IAABAMCI....ringing my MOH (sister) up last night to ask her if she thinks her 4 WEEK OLD little girl will fit into a 12-18month dress in July next year! She kindly told me to maybe wait until nearer the time to buy the dresses for my two neices, since "kids grow so fast, I just can't be sure..."

NOT the answer I wanted, I was in BHS besotted with three dresses, one for baby neice, one for older neice (7yrs) and one for MOH...they were in the sale, and perfect!

I did well to walk away from them, and tell myself, there will be LOTS more sales, and LOTS more pretty dresses xx

I'm considering putting a note in with ours saying in effect that if we do not receive an RSVP by the RSVP date then consider yourselves uninvited and not to bother turning up (but a little more diplomatic). I'm also going to number our RSVP's so that I know who the idiots are who can't write their names on them :rotfl:

I think if someone hasn't replied by the rsvp date then they just aren't coming. I hadn't considered otherwise.

I don't think I would 'uninvite' them, but just take it as a lazy no.

Any after this date is just say sorry too late. It's the same for my daughter's birthday and other parties tho. Maybe I'm just mean, but I hadn't considered chasing someone. If they want to come they'll let us know.
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

Me too! if we don't hear from them then I regard it as them not coming & tough if they turn up - they'll have to beg for scraps :rotfl:

I've yet to get my BZ moments (I think I'm a bit too relaxed, like a "Bride-Buddha"? lol!)

But then I think I'm already pretty firm about what we/are not having at our simple but big (in terms of numbers) wedding:
    • no giving away or 'best man' etc etc
    • no transport laid on except for bridal party
    • no favours, no seat plan (buffets all the way)
    • no gifts, just a request for my fave charity or honeymoon donation if guests rly rly want to
    • no r.s.v.p.-ey = no feedy!
    • a dual purpose cake-dessert
    • no "theme"
    • no top tables
    • acres (50 in all!) of outdoor space so the 'little darlings' amongst us can sod off outside all afternoon
    • no receiving line, endless speeches
    • music on CDs so we can hear ourselves talk, no DJ/band

And if anyone doesn't like it then they kindly buggr orf and leave us to it! :D

Does it make me a BZ or simply a Grumpy Stingy Old Lady? :rotfl:

Makes you neither, cos that's me exactly and I refuse to believe I'm either.

I wouldn't 'chase' evening guests but day i have/will. Mainly because i need to know for seating and the meal. I've had questions about atire from guests who haven't RSVP'd and many who have booked hotel rooms but not accepted their invite! I didnt give a date but its common courtesy, surly?

If you didn't give a date then I think that's different. As you might expect to know a month before but guests might think 3 weeks before is OK.

However if you gave a date, it passed and someone asked a question about atire and they hadn't had the decency to RSVP then I wouldn't think twice to say they're marked as not attending. There's no way I'm chasing anyone. You are absolutely right, you get an invitation and you accept or decline, if you can't be @rsed to even do that there's no way I'm paying to entertain you, feed you and have you spend my wedding day with me.

I agree with the principle of not chasing for RSVP's. My worry though would be if people who hadn't replied just turned up on the day with nowhere to sit and no food provided for them  I need to give exact numbers to the venue for the daytime and we need to do a seating plan, so we do need to know if people are planning on coming. If they aren't then I would prefer to invite someone else than pay for an empty seat and a meal that won't be eaten.

I'm definitely going to chase RSVPs. We need to know numbers as well!
