    Joint accounts are great till you don't want them and can't close them.

    The first one I think you NEED is a mortgage till then don't.

    Apologies for my harsh reply but there is one easy way to not have to worry about how much you should pay your bf and that's go and rent your own place ! It will cost a lot more.

    Yes I think you should pay 1/4 of the rent as you will be in the house using the same heating / hot water / council tax etc etc as everyone else.

    I can't understand how anyone could disagree.

    BUT please get that notice period sorted out for your own good !

Essentially it says you a fair way to do it is to divide the rent into two pots - one for the bedrooms and one for the communal area. The bedroom rent should then be divided by the number of bedrooms and the communal area by the number of people.
