To be honest, she wasn't particularly pleasant but went through it with me anyway. I was asked a lot more questions than usual (but that shouldn't be a problem as none of my circumstances have changed) and,at the end, said that she would "try" to process my claim and that I should call the main TC helpline on monday so see if it had been finalised. I wonder just how much information they have in front of them as she asked me if my daughter was still at school but as she is only 13 I would have thought that would be obvious and I only have 1 child. Monday cannot come quick enough now so that I can find out if it has been finalised or do I have more phone calls in front of me. It seems to be a total shambles this year and it has given so many people (including myself) a lot of worry and sleepless nights.
Look at at this way, if some-one had fraudulently obtained your details they would probably have made sure they had your daughters DOB - a question like the one you were asked wouldn't be so quickly answered by some-one not expecting to know it off the top of their head.0 -
I will be claiming childcare from september, and one thing I will be doing thanks to this thread is making sure I have a receipt every month for payments!!!!0

i would be grateful if u could advice me as to what i need to do please, ive asked my nursery provider last week to check for me the nursery fees that ive been paying for as i hadnt been receiving invoices,TaxCreditHelp wrote: »The Specialist Renewals process honestly, 100% isn't an investigation. If you receive a letter asking for further details it will be because there are inconsistencies between your renewal and the details held on the Tax Credit system which have been unable to be verified using the other systems at HMRC's disposal. For example, income below the minimum wage, a child which the Child Benefit system does not show you as a responsible for, Social Security benefit inconsistencies, etc, etc.
everything is correct except last sept one of my child was eligable for the goverment grant [something to do with once they turn 3]ive completely overlooked this, and havnt reported this change,so now my nursery provider has worked out ive been overpaid 31 pounds aweek for 6months..im just panicking so much and dont know what to do..i just want to ring and let thm knw about this before i renew..as its just something ive not picked up on and didnt pay much notice to around the time as ive been unwell..not been able to work either due to my health.. and been signed off by my gp..ive only just received my p60 and need to renew..please can someone advise me what to do..0 -
Just a randon question here, As ive said before i am going from a single to a joint claim, its taking ages and ages for new forms to appear, however my question is this, Is there any proof of anything that i may need to send in?, the reason im asking is with alot of folk getting asked to send in things id like to be on the ball so it can get put through asap as right now im getting nothing from them, i do not have childcare but do have a son on dsa.
Any help welcome

If you just send them a covering letter with your receipt all they will do is calculate how much they have overpaid you and will reduce your payments until the overpayment is repaid. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I have a slight overpayment as I had reduced my son's childcare back in September and had overlooked contacting the TCO helpline - this was mainly because it was only suppose to be a temporary measure which has in turn ended up being permanent. My son is now year 6 and was mithering to walk home from school on his own with his friends instead of go to the kids club - I agreed to it as his older sister is home the same time as him after school though I expected them to not get along - how wrong I was, they have both been very sensible and mature! Really don't worry0 -
Was not surprised to see that my thread had been removed from this forum, but honestly,i thought that that`s what these forums were for???.I suppose they want people to think that the tax credits specialist renewals system is going like clockwork and a thread like mine clearly indicates that it isn`t,especially when i expose them as switchboard operators on a powertrip.Oh well i hope that plenty got to read my thread during the 3 days it was on there.0

I think they would have removed it because you actually named the person that you were speaking too. Im sure everyone has read the post and they are aware of your situation. I still dont understand how they can stop tax credits and say your wife gets too much money from you. I was always under the impression that maintenance was not taken into account with tax credits. I certainly would look into that further wurzelman and appeal it. There are thousands out there who receive child maintenance and tax credits. I am one of those thousands and i have never been asked about it and read somewhere on a website that its not taken into account.0 -
I just called the compliance team and although they were friendly-ish it did feel abit like an interogation. Have also started a new post since my phone call with them, as there seems to be a large amount of confusion about whether i actually qualify for tax credits now or not, which has left me really worried about possibly having to pay them back.0

hey thanx so much for your advice,i understand what you are saying, but as ive not kept all my receipts,my nursery provider would be willing to send this proof in for me..would this be ok though?did you mention of the overpayment when you phoned up to renew?0

Just to advise that they are not a switchboard. They are a legitimate section. Ensuring that money is paid out correctly. A lot of people do not advise of a change in their circumstances. Or are not aware that a change can affect their award sometimes... Ps Maintenance is not taken into account....wurzelman2011 wrote: »Was not surprised to see that my thread had been removed from this forum, but honestly,i thought that that`s what these forums were for???.I suppose they want people to think that the tax credits specialist renewals system is going like clockwork and a thread like mine clearly indicates that it isn`t,especially when i expose them as switchboard operators on a powertrip.Oh well i hope that plenty got to read my thread during the 3 days it was on there.0
