Welcome Nephythys. Well done on being brave
Enjoy the time off. Is it permanent until after birth or just the two weeks? My OH has just quit her job as we have savings from some land sale we can live on and both be at home for a few years (living sensibly!) and I hope you can not work at least until baby is born and a while after that?
xmaslolly76 wrote: »Motm you may find it a bit boring to be honest if its the booking in appointment tell your OH not to be nervous, they fill in all the paper work, take bood pressure, weight and height and check the urine. There will be lots of questions about medical history for your OH and a couple about family history of diabeties and such like. You may be lucky and they will have a feel about of your OH's tummy but i think its rare that they bother now unless you mention any problems. They will ask which hospital you want to be registered with and will put a request in for your first scan date which you may get given the date there and then or it will be sent through the post to you.
At least thats how it works here anyways and i think they are all much of a muchness these days.
Sounds pretty similar to last time around. she's nervous but excited and i'll naturally be there all the way with her. She's expecting alot of questions, so no need to worry on that score. First scan will be around 12 weeks I believe?
Thanks for the info.Nothing to be nervous about, it's just questions on health and history as xmas has said, but they will also take the blood for the blood tests, and its about 4-5 vials. So if your partner is squeamish or doesn't like needles you may want to be with her, although fat lot of good my oh was....he had to leave the room-can't cope with needles.
:rotfl:Well, I don't like needles, but I shall look away. I'll be in with her. I wouldn't leave her on her own in this situation. She'll be okay.0 -
bigbird - that's so cute! I don't know re JL taking stuff back, they may well do for a swap! I have bought some newborn and some 0-3 months, will probably just wash it all. None of it is expensive so I can always pass it on/save for the next one. I've only really got plain white sleepsuits, with one or two outfits.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0

Seriously grumpy today
Not only do I have blood condition that I have to inject myself everyday, a dodgy liver of a unknown cause, I now have been diagnosed with SPD.
I'm only 14 weeks, I didn't think ladies suffered with this until later on. Doctor has referred me to the physio and given me a prescription for co-codamol which I don't really want to take!
I feel its going to be a very very long pregnancy, I'm now eating Haribo to cheer myself up!

OMG I think my baby is trying to get out! I've never had such sharp, painful kicks before! Ouch!!!
sarahangel - hugs, poor you. At least if you get some help sooner rather than later you can hopefully manage it well. courgette is the SPD expert here!
pigpen - yay to the chocolate! I have had my voucher for ages but the box is never in stock so I've given up!Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Rach - not sure the tesco box is worth it - vouchers for the nappies etc are very useful but wasn;t overly impressed with the box.
PP - yayy for being able to eat chocolate! am a bit jealous but this makes me hopeful that I can have some after baby arrives!
Sarahangel - big hugs. i sympathise completely. I've only recently been to see about mine although I've had pain since 12 weeks. Thought it was sciatica but it turns out that it can start at the back and move to the front - which mine has done. To be honest I wish I had gone to see about it much sooner. I hope you get sorted out quickly!
Hi MOTM - definitely not permanent! DH would have no objections but the mortgage man might! I have annual leave to take and then my maternity leave kicks in. Not sure how long to take off. We have some money saved by and we are hoping I can get a year off but if not then I'll go back when I need to!
This baby needs to remove its foot from my ribs!!!!0 -
