hope they don't take long to get it shipped in then, surely it is not that hard to order some??

anyway, blood transfusions are over rated IMO - the most important thing is to replace the volume of fluid in the body rather than replace it necessarily with actual blood. There are other fluids which can do the same job as blood does around the body on a temporary basis.

I'm not having one unless it is vital anyway.. shockingly!!

I have certain antibodies which have to be avoided but it can't be that hard.

Can I join in with the moaning about hospitals please?? The other day I posted that I had a call from a doctor at the hospital that there was something wrong with my liver function tests and to get over ASAP for more bloods, a scan and to see the doctor well ..

I'm no further down to line to finding out what is actually going on. I had to go to the Day Assessment Unit where I was greeted by a surly mw who managed after 10 mins and a lot of help to get 4 vials of blood out of me. I was then told I could go. Not on your nellie cakes I thought after driving 30 miles!! I told her that I supposed to have a scan which she said would be booked for next Wednesday at 8.30am - oh the joy of the rush hour on the M6!! Then I told her the doctor wanted to see me, honestly after the last couple of days I really wanted some answers why all this was going on. She checked with doctor who told mw that the blood was urgent and would see me when the results came back - which would be up to an hour. Anyway, after 2 hours of waiting and blubbing down to phone to OH (who was at work) bloods were back (woo hoo) to be told doctor is in theatre and she would see me after scan on Wednesday (boo). Surly mw must of felt sorry for me as she told me results, ALT's are slightly raised as is my urea, I have no idea what this means and I am not going to Google it either!!
I was so tired and fed up when I got home I've had a nice lie down and I've just had some chips, probably not the best thing with a dodgy liver, but whatever!!

Just hope Wednesday sheds some light on things!

hope so too for you sarah - MW's, Doctor's etc must think it is so easy for people just to drop everything and get to the hospital! it is not! especially if you have to arrange childcare never mind sorting out the timing/extra costs involved. Is your hospital 30 miles away from Nuneaton then? hope you won't have to travel that far when you are in labour?

Oh dear!! I am obviously having a worse day than I thought! I just got a call marked "international" on my phone with somebody phoning obviously from a foreign country but with a typically english name! which I know is possible but highly unlikely - "hi I am ..... from some accident company etc etc - how are you?" - Bad move!!! I said I am not interested in marketing calls and my number is ex directory and then he started talking all over me while I was trying to say politely that I wanted my number taken off their database - very bad move!!:mad:

Anyway, I admit I lost it and I totally bawled down the phone at him, really shouting "do not argue with me and do not call me again" and I hung up!

Oops! not really like me :o:o , I would usually just ignore it but he talked over me constantly all the time and I couldn't get a word in!

Don - I'm looked after by Birmingham Women's hospital as I have a blood condition (Factor V Leiden) which causes clots so this needs monitoring and I had excellent care their when I had my daughter almost 8 years ago. I lost all confidence in my local hospital after losing 2 babies there before I had my daughter and I had to fight to get referred to a specialist. I was told I had to loose a third before they would investigate!
I'm afraid I'll be a queue jumper, they have already told me that I will have to be induced at 38 weeks already so hopefully no crossing my legs in rush hour!! (famous last words!!)

Sirmonster - yes thats why I will have a growth scan, if baby is on the large side then I will be having a section, DD2 had a severe shoulder dystocia (which means she was stuck) and broke her arm, I really would rather not have a C Section but will do whatever is best for us both!

forgot already who mentioned chips :wall: but I find they are one of the things that actualy make me feel a bitty better . Heading out to my neighbours house for a 'come dine with me' and just want to throw up! hopefully the food will make me feel a bit better :)

Sarah that is such a ridiculous rule! to make you go through the pain of losing three children before being referred to even find out why it is happening?! Am pleased that you held out to get referred. I hope you don't get caught up in rush hour before your induction either. I might queue jump a little too lol! I tend to be a little early :)

Enjoy your evening out 2girlsforme - am sure you will feel better once you have eaten something. :D

Has anyone here had to have a stitch put in their cervix to help keep it closed?

I have vague recollections of Pigpen knowing something about it, but through my pregnancy fugg, I can't remember!!

I had a hand written envelope turn up today in the post strange i thought so opened it to find a prescription for pethadine inside now dont get me wrong its lovely they are trying to help me out by not going to the docs to collect but isnt Pethadine a controlled substance so surely they shouldnt be sticking prescriptions for it in the post just seems like its asking for trouble to me and it has a repeat prescription slip attached to it as well. I am very surprised as last time i had to get a prescription like that there was so much red tape doctor wouldnt prescribe without speaking to the midwife first and cheking me over throughly so i had to go back twice.

Has anyone else had prescriptions posted out like that ?

Not that i mind like i said just thinking out loud :-)

Enjoy your meal Smartie, I'm making veggie curry - yum, yum!! Hope you get chips 2 girls, I think potato type things made me feel better too (chips/crisps/mash).

((hugs)) KK - 2 weeks to go until bubs could be here xx

Can I moan re the medical profession too?? Went to docs to pick up my repeat prescription for ranitidine which I had for my killer indigestion, went to the receptionist and the computer said no as doc wouldn't sign it cos me being up the duff. So had to see the doc there (thankfully had an appointment) but had to wait around for 40 mins all for doc to do was look it up in their book, check I was finding it OK and then gave me prescription (was in there for 2 mins!). What was the point of that??
