If you have any bump bands, they're good for wrapping around your tummy so it's not exposed when you lift your top for feeding. Another trick is having two vests on and pull the underneath one down and the top one up and you're not exposed. (Mothercare also do breastfeeding camisoles that have a clip down part that would do the same job... And are apparently good for wearing to bed as they keep breastpads in place without needing a bra... Although I can't vouch for that, as far as mothercare are concerned I'm too fat to be pregnant or breastfeeding...)

You can feed in just about any top, the looser it is, the easier it is to lift up and get a baby under... I found button down ones tend to come unbuttoned and end up exposing you.

I've never had any breastfeeding clothes although a friend of mine is obsessed with them and some she has are really nice and I can see why they would make feeding easier, Some of them just look like a top with smocking across the chest and that's the bit that lifts up for feeding...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

I've just spent a couple of hours being patronised to death :rotfl:

Think I made myself unpopular as well for pretty much writing the 'disadvantages of breastfeeding' list myself :rotfl:

I just felt for the first time mums getting brainwashed into thinking that breastfeeding is oh so natural, convenient and easy when at times it just isn't!

Yipee lady from work has just brought a HUGE binbag full of baby giorls clothes most of which still have tags on!!!!!
Plus she says she has even more but didn't want to overwhelm me! Overwhelm me away i said so she's bringing loads more tomorrow, at this rate i won't have to buy a thing, its like xmas!!!!!!

Can't remember who asked about the pillow being good for feeding but i have the same one and have used it both times for bf'ing it's perfect.

I have always waited til my milk comes in before buying feeding bras (apart from a cheap one for at first) as my boobs grow massively when milk comes in.

At night i always find a sports bra with a cut up very absorbant tea towel does the trick as i am very leaky at night and it was costing a fortune in breast pads.

Not to mention DH's horror when he stood on a used one one morning after i had flung it out in the night!!!!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
  • I just got back from a horrible MW appointment. well it wasn't really that bad and I don't know why I'm so upset :(

First of all I got there and it wasn't the usual nice midwife, some random woman who thought I was 41 weeks (I am 38). When we got in the room she introduced me to a student midwife and then they sat at different ends of the room and talked at me alternately/at the same time so I didn't know who to talk to.

I put them right about my dates and then the older one just started talking about 'you do know you're going to go past your dates, don't you'.

Then the student felt my belly and got the older one to confirm that they think the baby is now back to back. This was a big surprise as I really don't think the baby is back to back, my bump is popped out at the front, I can feel what I think is the back/bum down the front all the time, I can't feel any hands/feet at the front, I haven't felt the baby turn in the last few weeks, I haven't got any back or pelvic pain.

Then they talked some more about how I wasn't ready and how I was probably going to go overdue.

Then the student measured me and got it insanely wrong and now it looks like my baby has suddenly put on about 2 pounds in the last few days but they didn't go anywhere with that so I'll just ignore it.

Then they went through some bizarre checklist about breastfeeding, and then said my next appt won't be till August 5 (I'll be 5 days overdue then).

Anyway as you can see not really that bad (apart from I am a bit gutted about positioning) but for some reason I am really hormonal and have just cried for ages about it :(

    Hi everybody

Just popping in to say hi.
Congratulations Sammykaye & welcome to baby Holly May.
I'm missing this thread so thought I would have a little nose -will most likely lurk here for a while before I pluck up the courage to join the parents thread.

Just an update-Have finally named my little boy and will be registering him today, his name is quite unusual and probably not to everybodys taste but I love it.I have called him Daaiem (as in rhyme or the first half of diamond) which means one who exists forever. He is such an easy contented baby and is doing well.I'm dying to take him out but I still haven't chosen a pram (can't decide between silvercross 3d or quinny)and probably won't manage anyway until I recover myself as I'm still feeling weak and very tired.

Just want to wish everybody well and sending easy labour vibes for all those that need and happy vibes for everybody else x

Congrats Sonee and I like the name very much :)

Hi DP, sorry you had such a horrible MW appointment. Personally, I would not wait until your next appointment on 5th August... can you call the midwife that you normally see and explain what happened and that you are concerned that they haven't gotten things right like the baby measurements and position? Even so, I would just make up some excuse and get yourself booked in again next week or something for another check up and hopefully it will be your normal MW that you will see. hugs xxxx

I had a bit of an emotional morning too - hubby was taking up the old carpet as we get a new one tomorrow and had a moan about the fact I moved his stanley knife a whole 10cms away from where he left it so that he of course could not find it!!! grrrr! and then moaned about him having to do all the emptying of the living room and carrying things upstairs all by himself (which is totally not true!) and like I can carry heavy things upstairs at 30 wks pregnant anyway! As it was, I helped him move the blasted heavy fish tank from the living room which I probably really should not have lifted in the first place. So I ended up getting upset after his comments too... :(

But I have cheered myself up because - yay! my HIPG grant has been paid into my bank account today :D

    Hugs to all needing them!
