sammy - congrats on the birth of Holly and a big 'YAH POO' to the MFH!!

tinks - those pics are fab - really clear and I'm loving the foot one :D

DP [and anyone else who needs them] - ((((((((((HUG))))))))))

PP - hope you are feeling either better or in labour so it will all be over soon

sonee - loving the name :D

We have loads of stuff already at 23+1 but not all - we've had the pram since before our 12 week scan

Well, I had to go for my second cervical scan today and also ended up with an impromptu 'belly' scan because "we cant let come come for 'one of those' and not let you see your baby'" :Dhe is a right old fidget which was quite reassuring to see so much movement without feeling it because even though this is my third time her/his lack of 'routine' with movements does worry me somewhat!!

Am also proud to annouce my cervix is 47mm long :rotfl::rotfl:

Labour (and stay put) vibes to all who need them

Hey all, just to let you know baby Megan arrived this morning!

Had a lovely waterbirth at a midwife-only unit (penrice); admitted at 11.10pm last night, delivered at 1.17am, discharged at 3.45am and home at 4.30am this morning. Pre labour was about 18 hours (though contractions stopped and started a lot in that time for several hours at a time), 1st stage (active labour) 2 hours 50 mins, 2nd stage (pushing) 57 mins and 3rd stage 8 mins. Had a small 1st degree tear and one stitch but otherwise a very easy first baby - have been told subsequent births should probably be at home as I went very quickly - i.e. was 4cm dilated at quarter past eleven and she was born 2 hours later - and all hospitals are over 30 minute drives for us.

We had the whole birthing centre to ourselves and 2 lovely midwives helped us through it, but mostly OH was a rock keeping my breathing steady and me! Most helpful things in second stage were the water (amazingly helpful - was a different person once I got in the pool) breathing techniques, soft music and lighting, eye contact with other half and frozen flannels over my whole face between contractions. In prelabour and about half of 1st stage, rocking on birthing ball, TENS machine on boost and hypnobirthing worked best for me.

No pain relief needed, and she came straight up to the surface and cried her lungs out! All 8lbs and 8oz of her! Still can't believe how big she was - especially as I only put on 21 pounds in total over the pregnancy! She's breastfeeding like a dream, and I am sore all over but very happy! Having cuddles with Daddy at the moment who is besotted!

Hope all are well here - had a quick scan back - great scan photos Tinks, grrr to horrid MWs Dear Pru, hold on in there courgette! Labour vibes/hugs as required, signing out to get some rest!!!

    Awww congrats kym :D

Well I'm finally home from a day in the delivery suite (which is very nice with lovely staff:))

AND I have to go in 3 times a week now:eek::eek::eek: Can't complain about having to hear bubs heartbeat all the time;) but will complain about the cost of petrol and parking!!:p

Bubs was very naughty and wouldn't keep still and apparently I was having contractions... my reaction - "am I!!" Didn't feel anything!:rotfl:I remember that happening with DS all those many years ago. Midwife reckons it's a girl due to it's constant wiggleness:eek:

Had an iron infusion which they struggled with cos of my naughty veins. I know there's many on here who don't agree with them etc BUT I need it as I'm at the stage where I really can't walk anymore due to no iron.

So it's back in on Friday and I now really need to get super organised. Need to fit in getting DS school stuff for sept, still need to get car seat sorted... and 101 other things!!!

    Good news... chinese takeaway tonight!!:D:D:D

Nene out of boredom I had a nosy at the people who don't post so much and Jessima hasn't posted anything since 24/11/2009 could it be worth moving here to the bottom of the list somewhere??? No worries if you don't wanna, I'm just trying to scare KK as shes getting closer to the top:p:rotfl:

Smartie, glad the midwives were lovely and that you now have your much needed iron:) Now you better get a giggle on and sort stuff out for the little [STRIKE]madam [/STRIKE];) one or you'll be panicking if you do go early lol mad that you were having contractions and not feeling them tho! Is that normal? :/

It' definately normal fuzz, my friend went into hosp a month from iving birth because of severly vomiting and whilst there she said seh felt like pushing, they said don't be daft, finally examined her and she was 10cm dilated!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She never felt one contraction!!!!!!Apparently her mum was the same my friend was born in a corridor!!

    Where did my post go???

I'll try again! I nearly slipped a tenner to the midwife to say boy;):p DH was happy she said girl ("told you so" grin!)

I think it's braxton hicks rather than the real thing. All I feel is constant kicks. BUT with DS when I was induced I was having contractions but didn't realise!!:rotfl:I do have a high pain threshold cos of everything BUT them messing up a vein in my wrist today nearly made me cry in pain:o
