Glad your feeling better today Pigpen.
I went to DS1s parents evening today he is doing alot better but still struggling with his writing on the upside he is their little class star for maths but after having a bit of praise he seemed to take that as a queue to act like a little pita all night so got sent to bed early. I only have my two DS's tomorrow DD is going to sleep over at her friends house after going to watch eclipse at the cinema on the down side of that i have her friend staying here on the saturday night hopefully they will ok though they are at that age were they just shut themselves away in her room with DVDs and snacks doing daft stuff with makeup and nail varnish.
Well i'm going to bed now i really need to stretch out. Sleep well all :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0 -

Morning all - am still here.
Had contractions at 30 mintes yesterday for about 2 hours after my sweep and then they stopped. Nothgin all night last night but this mornign I do have uncomfortable pain downwards as if her head is grinding but no contractions as of yet.
Although didnt realise what state my flat is in - was most :eek::eek::eek: when I got up this morning and thought jees what the hell happened so I have a day of cleaning going on today and need to drastically do a tesco shop - did mention to boyfriend about going to tesco but he wasn't keen on that idea at 41+1. Plus I have another sweep tomorrow so want the place clean for the midwife coming. Although boyfriend did mention we had his other son this weekend again too - bloody joy! think I might hide in the bedroom all weekend because having a sweep, then dealing with a spoilt rude 9 year old, whilst I'm expected to wait on boyfriend and look after Benjie will drive me mad.Time to find me again0 -
Morning everyone xsweaty_betty wrote: »Hello there - I'm hoping someone can make me feel better :-)
Can anyone tell me anything positive about c-sections etc to help me deal with this?
I've had gestational diabetes in the past and 2 elective c-sections, one at 37 weeks and one at 38. I was told I would need to be on an insulin drip both times but when I've gone in they haven't bothered with it. Might be different if you always have diabetes though. the c-sections I had no problems with at all, I lost quite a bit of blood with DD and needed a transfusion but was up the next day. DS was early in the morning and I was up and about by the evening. It's great for planning when you are having baby and organising help for other children or OH paternity leave. DD was a big ish baby at 9lb 5 at 37 weeks, and lost a fair bit of weight whilst I was attempting breastfeeding which promted visits on a weekly basis by the HV to check her weight but she thrived on the formula. DS had some shallow breathing that can be common with c-sections but they said it wasn't too bad, kept an eye on him for an hour or 2 then he was fine. His blood sugars dropped too so they checked his a bit longer than DD but they didn't go so low that anything needed doing, just monitoring. I didn't find the recovery too bad afterwards and was always able to do whatever I would normally do bar driving.
When I had DD they were more keen for me to have a c-section than induction and I was happy to go along with that. The thing about an induction that concerned me was the risk of an emergency c-section and I have heard horror stories of these. I do think they thought DD was going to be a bit bigger than she was and she still has a sticky out tummy now I guess that'll be her shape. Stupid sugar cravings when I had no idea.
It can't be that bad, cetainly hasn't put me off anymore. I think maybe they have given you the details of all the possible side effects/risks it doesn't mean you will have any of them but if you do that you are a bit more prepared for it.
As a positive yesterday morning my 16 week GTT came back as normal so just have to do it again at 28 weeks now.0
