Sammy if you dont feel you need it and there is no benefit for baby then just say no. I second the spatone ive been on it all week and so far so good no dia woo woo or contispation :-)

Well i am just about ready to murder someone the kids have been sent to their rooms for fighting for the rest of the night and me and OH had a todo before he went to work, he did nothing but winge and moan at DS1 since he came out of school (yes i know he can be a pita) but Oh was starting to sound like a broken record keep going flaming on anyway it came to head when i made a DS1 pizza for tea he asked for some help to cut it into slices both My OH and DD1 were in the kitchen so i said can one of you help him please whilst i finish feeding bubs. I walked back in 5 minutes later to OH berating DS1 over not being able to cut his pizza himself and him getting all upset about it so i blew my top and told him i specifically asked them to help as i knew he would not be able to cut it up properly and instead of just helping he has now caused a flaming scene and upset everyone. He has been behaving like a 3 year old all day and just wont let anything drop (i'm of a firm belief you have to pick your battles with your kids and to be honest the cutting up of a pizza is not top my list right now) anyway he went off sulking and left without saying goodbye to me just came and gave bubs a kiss
Yes i know we have a lot of work to do with DS1 he was babied by me for far to long and i only realised how bad i was with him when i was expecting bubs. He has been improving alot though, i just feel like all this negative attention he gets from OH is going to send him backwards not forwards and make him feel like nothing he does is good enough yet i dont want the OH feeling like i am trying to push him out or undermine him he is normally brilliant with him and has gotten DS to calm down a hell of alot by introducing a hobbie and spending 1 to 1 time with him on it. I just got the end of my tether today hopefully a good nights sleep (work for OH) will put everything into perspective for us all.

PIGPEN HELP you are my guiding light with things like this and normally have a very simple right under my nose responce that for some reason i am unable to see for myself :(

    Wow.. how can I refuse?

I am assuming this is the 8 y/o not the baby?

I still cut pizza into segments for my 14y/o. He could possibly do it himself given kevlar gloves and a blunt knife! Sometimes it is easier to just do it yourself. Mine is rather babied too.. but he was so tiny and was like a toddler until he was about 7.. he is much better now.

OH.. Hhhmmm.. a swift knee to the nuts accidentally next time he is in the bed with you?

I think he needs to made aware of the dexterity of the average 8y/o.. and when you have specifically asked him to help he is rather out of order berating him for it.. what did he do for himself at 8?

Write down what has pee'd you off most today.. the bickering? the nagging about something so trivial? etc.. and explain to him in idiot man terms what that means for you.. atmosphere in the house, upsetting the other childrens behaviour.. maybe pointing out what is a battle to be fought and what isn't might help?

I hate raised voices.. they actually make me feel physically sick and KH used to shout and scream constantly.. drove me to distraction.

I am also a firm believer of picking your battles which my OH is struggling with too.. he has never had to pick and choose so everything is up for battle.. it is a learning curve and we have been doing this day in, day out for years and it is all new to them.. they need to be gently guided in the right direction. The worst part for us is because the children never paid any attention to Kh because all he ever did was shout and scream they are struggling to listen to OH.. and I am too tired at the moment to force that, I know it is partly my fault.

I'm still thinking a sharp knee to the nuts in bed is the best option.. :p

Sit him down and give him a talking at.. then spit in his gravy!
So for now I will keep taking my iron tablets, eating an iron rich diet, will look into the spatone - have a chemist across the road so will ask his advice tomorrow - and will look after myself and look forward to the last week of pregnancy.

Now jsut have to deal with my swollen feet/ cankles and I'll be sorted - they are really painful today though. :( oh the joys of pregnancy.

You can get it on prescription!!!

Glad you have support from home as well.. it does make it so much simpler.. my OH would just do as he was told.
LITTLESISTERLOLA ---- do you use spatone?? I'm after a few reviews- from what i can gather its just mineral water that you can mix with fruit juice and its naturally rich in iron. Have you used it?? can you taste it in your drink?? Heard pig pen didn't get along with it and have pm'd her to ask why but wondered if I can still take my 3 iron tablets (200mg each) a day and spatone in the morning.

Yes you can.. it didn't cause me upsets it just didn't make the slightest bit of difference to my Hb.. it is a different chemical make up to the artificial iron in iron tablets being a natural source and all so you can take both. I mixed it with fresh orange and could taste it a little but it isn't vile.

  • I've been taking it for 10 days, haven't had bloods redone yet but I feel better for taking it. I take it in a glass of oj and it tastes ok. I've got tablets too but have been avoiding them as I'm already constipated !!

I have seen a house on Rightmove, it's huge, it's in our price range, but is on a big estate. Am going to have a look, was really hoping for in school catchment but we will never find another house that size so cheap. :(

Cheers Pigpen we have just spoken on the phone about it all and everything is alot better now although i still dont think he understands completely what i am getting at as you say that will come with time.

As for what OH was like when he was 8 apparently he always was and always will be the perfect child much to the amusment of his parents who love telling me all the little tales about what he would get upto lol. As for me well i did nothing for myself when i lived at home not through choice mom refused to let me and it did me no favours at all when i stepped into the big wide world plus it made me the teenager from hell my poor mother its only when you have kids of your own that you realise what a pita you were yourself growing up ;-)

Back to the spatone it tastes awfull on its own (yes i had to taste it lol) but i cant taste it at all in orange juice. I have to remember to ask my midwife what my actual blood results were as all the nurse said was that im slightly anemic and that could mean anything. Does anyone know what good levels are so i have some sort of idea of what i need to be taking and when ???

Lol do you know my little brother was met by stares of amazement when he told DD1 at my nan's that she couldn't have ketchup on her christmas dinner.

She actually has a video of him throwing a paddy when he was older than her when my grandad (gone now bless him! :() told him the same thing.

It's a man thing, hey were all always the perfect child :rotfl:

    hi all

Home v late as awards do after work. we didn't win :( but hey. The chief exec was there and asked me when I was due. He looked shocked when I said early Oct as I am suddenly massive! Must do pics.

Had meeting to agree some pieces of work for me to do when I'm at home and got a work mobile.

Mothercare delivery has been dispatched but home delivery network who can be a nightmare here...fingers crossed it will come before 12ish tomorrow when I'm going out. Am working the morning then nipping to pick up netmums stuff, after which I am getting hair cut (first time since last december!!) and will do a bit of cleaning as bil and sil coming in the eve for a chinese.

Rach my little lady has been quiet the past couple of days but she is still there i did find with bubs though at a certain stage his movements changed from being a river dancer to more of an ice skater if that makes sense so they were less frequent but more pronounced i think it was room issue. Hope all goes well at the midwife appointment :-)

Tasting it on its own - now thats dedication to the cause! lol :T  <<<although I get the feeling that's not the best smiley to put with spatone! doh!

I was told that a Hb of 11 is recommended and anything under that is classes as anaemic. Rechecked my notes last night and back in January when I found out I was pregnant it was 10. Then in April it was 9.2 and now I'm at 8 so its steadily coming down so anything I can do now will boost it.

PIGPEN - thanks for the PM. Thought you were going to say it had some strange adverse effect on you! Will definitely look into getting some today either from chemist or from doctor - might even go to coop pharmacy in town where I get discount .
    Time to find me again
