rach i also have to tell work this week what i plan to take for my maternity and i havent a clue what to do!! i think il be ok working right up to 38wks, but its the coming back date im unsure about! i get quiet a good mat pay package, i get 18weeks full pay then i can take up to 21 weeks SMP, but me and OH will really struggle without my full wage so i dont know how long i could cope with only the SMP? so i dont know how long to tell them i want off? if i say i want the full 39wks leave then wish to go back earlier can i? i am so confused and i dont want to make a decision about it just yet, but i have to lol!

I believe the best thing to do is say you are going to take it all, then if you wish to return early you just need to give 28 days notice.

    I don't have a tv.. :p

I'd had surgery in October which had fiddled my cycle about so it appears I ovulated a couple of days earlier than anticipated.. be interesting if we all have the same sex babies!!

cheers merfe i wasnt sure if i was allowed to go back early. il not be saying this next year lol i dont think il ever want to go back, but financially i have to. then all the fun about childcare etc will start!! baby will be nine months and i dont know but that seems very young to put him in a creche. OH's mum has offered to mind him but i dont know if she would be able for it as she has some health problems, and i think it may be too much for her. would anyone else feel guilty leaving their child 9-5 mon-fri? argh nightmare but trying not to think about it until closer to the time or i will stress myself out. wish OH earnt decent money so i could be a SAHM or even go part time :(

dreambirdie - when are you due I can't see you on the list! I don't get great mat pay as I've not been there quite long enough...3 weeks later would've been a diff story! I think I am going to take the 9 months of stat, plus I get a bit more at the start with the slightly enhanced scheme. Need to work out dates though

    hello

went to my first aquanatal class today was nice about 20 of us there couple were due this friday!! most people were 30 plus weeks I was only one under that at 27+6 - but think people didnt know they could have time off work to go so had waited til on leave!!

My tankini was a little baggy and top was long bearing in mind I am very tall so it kept riding up in pool when excerising so tucked it into bottoms which think maybe it was designed to do as bottoms had a pattern just around top to match the top - I wasnt only one having probs with tankini top and saw few other people resorting to tucking it in!!! Wish I wasnt so tall and could wear a cossie but nothing is ever long enough.

Got my HPG didnt take long at all.

re:work....I'll only be off for 6months:( We can't afford for me not to go back any later really, at the moment the plan is for me to go back full-time, less if possible, depends what we're like financially at the time but going off that assumption this will be bubs' timetable:o

Mon - at home with Daddy
Tues & Wed - with MIL & FIL (not 100% sure on this as I feel it's not fair but upto them I suppose:))
    Thurs & Fri - childcare:(

I feel so guilty having to put them in nursery/childcare but having Monday with Daddy has softened the blow a fair bit:D

im due 25th september i dont know how to put myself on the list lol. its terrible trying to work out the dates isnt it? im hoping il be ok working to 38wks but i dont know how il be feeling between now and then. i have 16 days left of annual leave so i am trying to keep them just incase i want to start my maternity before 38wks, but with being so tired etc i keep needing days off, if i ring in sick it has to be "pregnancy related" so it doesnt affect my sickness record, but i dont know if being too tired is a good enough reason. i feel like going to docs within the next few weeks and asking for a sickline because to be honest i am shattered and need a couple of days in bed to hopefully recharge my batteries! i didnt realise the effects pregnancy can have!! and im making stupid mistakes in work etc my head is just all over the place. and the men dont help, they think that every pregnant woman in our office "milks" it, and TBH before i got pregnant i used to think along those lines but now i am one of them and know how totally carp it can be! :(
but tryng to stay positive at the same time not long before baby will be coming and il be happy and at home, fair enough il be shattered with night feeds etc but il have my baby in my arms and thats the one person that is keeping me going :)

edit to add: fuzz i feel the same about childcare, but a lady in my office has came back off mat leave and her little girl is coming up to age one and she absolutley loves going to creche! doesnt like to see her mummy coming in for her in the afternoons lol. so i am hoping my wee one will be the same, because i really dont think i want him being looked after by OH's mum 40 hrs a week.

I didn't know this...is there some legislation I could show boss? I work far from home but near to a nice new leisure centre!

fuzz i will prob have to go back full time too, well so dh says...we could manage on less i think but we'll see. I am hoping there may be a possibility of a job where i'd work from home more flexibly...have put some feelers out for this. My neice loves nursery and even though my sil is now off on ML with her 2nd and not going back they are keeping her in nursery a couple of days as she loves it and good for her mum to have the time with the new one

If DH gets the new job we'd not really be any better off, taking into account that he'd be working full time currently does 9/10 days, but it would be a good career move. I'm not sure what I think as I am not good with change but these things have a way of working themselves out!
