Hi just a quick question if i may. I am on my 3rd baby and wondered if 15 weeks was too soon to feel baby moving. I was in bed and am pretty sure i felt something but wondering if it is slightly too early?

Hi all
Sorry havn't been on in a while. Just been a bit fed up, suffering badly with spd, but anyhow...
Hope everyones keeping well and not sufffering too much in this heat?!
When do you get sent for a growth scan if they think the baby is measuring too big/small? I've been measuring about 2 weeks bigger than what i am for the last few appointments but the mw hasn't ever mentioned sending me for a growth scan. My last baby was 8lb 3oz and that was big enough! defo don't want any bigger than that!!
Slm - I first felt baby move at around 14 weeks! This is my second. I think you feel it earlier with 2nd/3rd etc. pregnancies.
1more- Not sure about the anaethetist?? has nobody told you what its for?
I'm going to see the consultant on wed morning...not quite sure what to expect really
Anyhow congrats and labour vibes to those who want/need them

thank you to everyone for the replies. I was sure i felt something but tend to think most of the time its wishful thinking. I love this middle bit when you get to feel baby without it being painful!
Baby seems to be really low this time round already and has been since i found out. I guess each one is different or so they say.
I bought a little pink outfit the other day from the charity shop for 99p. It was a gorgeous knitted pink and white dungeries with matching cardigan. Such a bargin and if it turns out that i am having a boy (find out hopefully on 8th july) its only 99p and i am sure i could sell it for a lot more.Me, DD1 19, DS 17, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/19

I feel a bit of a fraud posting on here as my 'bump' is now six months old (see avvy). However I wanted to comment about iron tablets.kitkat5566 wrote: »Sorry just noticed your post! Pre-pregnancy I was very amaemic and had to take iron tablets daily. My mum is the same and said to try avoid them during pregnancy as she found them a nightmare. So I stopped taking them and have just carried on taking my pregnancy multivits and omega 3 and will all the way through (I know some MWs tell you you can stop at 12 weeks).
So far my iron levels have been fine at every appointment, are you taking any pregnancy vits?
I was the same. I think the levels they expect in pregnancy are lower than usual, so it is easier to scrape in as 'normal'.dreambirdie wrote: »hi ladies i have been quite the lurker on this thread, havent contributed much as im never at home to get on the laptop.
im currently 22 wks pregnant with my first baby, had my big scan last week, and im on team blue :j
just had a browse over the past few pages RE names im feeling the dilemma myself at the moment. i had LOTS of beautiful girls names written down, and NO boys names. the only one i like is Noah which my OH hates as he thinks it sounds gay?? so we are having a slight disagreement on that frontgetting a bit sick of trying to pick a name so might just wing it and see when the baby is born what i like.
anyone started taking their iron tablets yet? how are you all finding them? i got mine at 18 wks and i took them for one week and then stopped as i was SO constipated it was horrible. doctor has told me i need to take them but i really really dont want to. does anyone know if its necessary to take them at this stage? or have any of you ladies got any alternatives?
hope you are all keeping well and your bumps are behaving themselvesx
edit to add i LOVE the name Fern its beautiful.
I totally recommend Spatone. It's sachets of liquid that you take in orange juice and it is much more gentle on the stomach then iron tablets. You can buy it in Boots and Mothercare. It's quite pricey but so worth it, IMO.:DYummy mummy, runner, baker and procrastinator0 -
1more - I forgot about the anaethetist - are you having a c-section?
im hoping not, i have spd and have had it from about 11wks, i was refered to see the anaethetist (thanks for the spelling tigtag) when i went to see the consultant at 20wks about my spd, her english wasnt the best but what i could gather was just incase i needed a csection due to my spd.
my spd is a lil better than it was as im taking it easy so im not really sure what to say to her, i dont want a c section but i also dont wont to wait until i go in to labour to find it hurts to much to open my legs:o:o and need an emergency c section
any advise ???0 -
Hi, I thought I would post about my last two labours as I had an emergency caesarean for DS1 in 2002.
In 2004, I had DS2 VBAC, and I was a woman on a mission to get him in the best possible position for labour as I am fairly certain this is why my 1st labour didn't progress and I had to be induced, etc. I spent all my spare time looking up 'optimal foetal positioning'. I argued with every doctor and consultant that it didn't matter that I was overdue (DS2 was 10 days late in the end) and that they weren't going to book me in for a caesarean.
I didn't know at the time that they can't induce you if you are trying VBAC after a caesarean. I went into labour after a sweep and had to stay fairly monitored, they put a canula in my hand in case they needed to whisk me away, and strapped monitors to my tummy to monitor myself (because of scar) and to monitor baby's heartbeat. This is why you can't have a water birth after caesarean. I did have several visits from doctors throughout, just to check that things were going alright, and labour took quite some time as, for my body, this was my first 'normal' delivery.
Having said all that, though, I was able to stay upright and mobile and the leads from the monitor were fairly long, so I could move around and didn't have to stay strapped to the bed.
DS3 was born yesterday after I woke up at 607 with my first contraction. I had 4 hours of erratic contractions where I had a massive urge to clean the house from top to bottom (typically I'd had a day off housework the day before so the house was a tip); my waters broke at 1120, I was in hospital by 1220 and DS3 was born at 1430! Not bad going!
I have to say that yesterday's labour was the most empowering experience I have ever had. When I phoned the hospital to say I was coming in, they double checked that I had already had a VBAC and said that I didn't need to come in early for them to monitor my scar as they were not anticipating any difficulties, having read up on my second birth.
I got to the hospital and the amazing midwife said that she wouldn't put a canula in but she would just monitor me and baby's heartbeat and see how we got on from there. So I was free to move around as much as possible; no intervention from doctors, the only hairy bit was when baby got stuck because he'd wrapped the cord in front of his head and this is why, even though I was pushing for England, he took three midwifes holding my legs apart to get him out!!
I was home within four hours! What a difference from DS1 where I was in hospital for nearly a week.
So you can have a 'normal' delivery after VBAC. The only stumbling blocks I have found were ...
- as my BMI is slightly higher than average, I kept getting asked if I wanted a caesarean this time - I stood my ground
- DS1 and DS2 were both 10/12 days overdue so I was expecting DS3 to be late; in fact, on Thursday I had a huge row with a consultant who was pushing for me to book a caesarean as they get very twitchy if you go overdue when going for VBAC (I was only 5 days late this time)
- DS2 was fairly big at 9lb 2 for my size, so they started getting twitchy about how big DS3 was going to be
However, I talked through absolutely every concern with my midwife beforehand and she said she would back me all the way and didn't think I had any worries.
I felt really focused yesterday; my NCT yoga had helped but also I had been practising my breathing in different birthing positions for a number of weeks, so I knew where I felt most comfortable, and all I needed in the end was gas and air (however, I pushed so hard on the mask that I have got a really sore nose, mouth and forehead today)
I hope this helps you make up your mind. You've got nothing to lose in going for a VBAC (this will make looking after your other 2 children a lot easier, I should imagine) but one of the first things I did say upon arrival yesterday was that if there was any doubt then they should just whisk me away and get baby out as obviously a 'birth plan' is only that.
HOpe that helps!
Hi thankyou very much for your help. Congrats on your baby. It sounds like the best thing for me to do would be to speak to my midwife and when i see my consulant again to speak to her. And then make my decision.Married 09/09/090 -

Im a bit worried as my feet and ankles are swollen. I noticed last night that my ankles were swollen and just looked at my feet and my feet and ankles are swollen.
Has anyone else got an underactive thryoid. I ask because i have one and found out on thursday that i need to be monitored more. I see a professor who deals with things like that, i had my blood taken to see what my levels are and they phoned me on friday to say that i need to increase my tablets. Also im going back in two weeks to see what my levels are like then.Married 09/09/090
