I second the ikea cots we have one and after being used for DD it is as sturdy as ever and looks brand new still. We didn't have the cheapest one but the next one up- think about £90 with mattress, 2 years ago (I didn't actually pay that though, as I got mine from work, as ikea donate to the scrap store I used to work in and when they changed all their cot sizes they gave them loads of brand new, in box/ wrapping, cots with mattresses- so only cost me £40 for both! result!)

Also they have a cheap toddler bed in ikea for £39.99 and a friends LO has it and it is very sturdy! Also their child bed sizes seem to match other bedding (unlike their adult beds)

Hiya msd Im in exactly the same position as you!!! My last appointment bubs was laying more across/diagonally and it hasnt moved since the lowest bubs gets is about level with my belly button but still laying across. I have my 36wk (Im 36+3) this afternoon and was told they might send me for a scan to see how bubs is lying etc. So basically both our MWs are singing from the same hymn sheet. Ive been a bit concerned that when I lay on my right side Im doing some harm/damage to bubs' head :o Let us know how you get on today we can compare notes ;):)

Sorry to post a reply to this 3 days late ... but went to mw and babies head is actually head down and quite low apparently. It seems to keep head down now but gets into some strange positions - it must get neck ache?! I have an almost pointy bump - it looks strange! I can't really explain it.

If this baby comes at 37+2 like my ds did - that is on thursday  I think this one will keep me waiting. I keep waking in the night and panicking that I might have gone into labour and that is why I have woken! (I woke at 5am cos my waters had gone with ds)

Sending labour vibes to everyone that needs them xx

Yorkygal- my bubs was lying oblique and I was reading up on different ways of positioning baby. I tried all the laying on one side stuff, and sitting in optimum positions etc, then tried putting frozen pea's where the head is. Bubs did a massive shift about after about 5 mins of doing it and has been head down since. It may have been a co-incedence but I really don't think so- worth a try anyways!

Hope things start soon for you Choccy... just think - baby cuddles very soon!:j

Well I'm being controversial here... I'm not getting anything from freecycle, car boot sales, charity shops etc:p

My friend is lending a car seat, bath and baby carrier... everything else will be new!! I do not pay full price for anything though and I have got so many bargains so far using voucher codes, sales etc:D

I'm sure the "MSE nothing wrong with second hand/recycling" police will be along to shout at me soon but we're all entitled to chose what we want for our babies. DH works VERY HARD for us to be able to enjoy buying things for bubs;)

Kitkat... there seems to be a lot of ladies on here who have crap midwives:( I'm very lucky to have a brilliant one! However - I have my fair share of other crap medical people I have to deal with, like doctors who give me medication I'm allergic to:mad:

smartie- Thats not controversial hun, that is your prerogative, your baby your rules! :) I did actually find that some things worked out better to buy new than to bother with second hand, these were (from memory) A moses basket, as I found one for £25.99 inc mattress and all covers etc and I got quidco. I had been looking for a second hand one and hadn't had any luck at carboot or freecycle etc, and the ones at NCT were £12 and you then had to buy mattress and some of them didn't even have the fabric covers etc!!

Also packs of vests and plain babygrows are so cheap in Asda and Tesco etc that I bought these rather than trawl the charity shops for most of my newborn stuff, though once we knew she was a girl people bought us loads anyway. We also got bought a buggy (maclaren techno) from my dad, and we got a new car seat as it was important to me, but it was good old kiddicare with money back on quidco! :)

Personally, I tend to get most stuff second hand so that I can afford to splash out on a few lovely bit's without feeling guilty about spending money we can't really afford. If you have the money then I can't see why you need to feel guilty for it/ justify it to anyone- like I said your baby, your rules!!

It looks like Mrs Buf is a lucky girl in pregnancy (tell me if this is common or not!). She's woke up the last 2 mornings in a row to an orgasm!

Are wet dreams common in pregnancy??! she's not had them before (apparently! haha) and shes not complaining about them happening now but we want to know if its normal for pregnancy or if its a well kept secret. I bet she cant wait to go to bed already :rotfl:

And apparently its whilst dreaming about me (yeah right!)

I agree that a car seat should most def be new... however the one I'm borrowing is from my best friend so I know it has never been in an accident and has been looked after ;)

I've got well over £50 due from quidco at the moment!!
