My mate has just bought me a Haynes baby manual for blokes taking a practical approach. Its so funny! For those of you who dont know, Haynes make manuals for cars so you can fix them, its basically a hardback with illustrations on how to perform each of the tasks. The contents page reads:
Ignition (conceiving)
On-board diagnosis (monitoring and complications of pregnancy)
Pre delivery inspection (preparing for B-Day)
Running In (child development)
Impact protection systems (safety on the move and at home)
routine maintenance (childhood ailments)
fault finding
service history
dimensions and weights
hahaha. This book is quality, what a great mate!
Brilliant I will get my hubby one for our anniversary, he has shown no interest in any of the baby books, as says only aimed at the mum to be.
Thanks for this :T0 -
Bufger ooh i forgot about those saw them once and thought it would be a good idea then forgot about it. Might see if i can pick one uptoday :-):jFriends are like fabric you can never have enough:j0

I'm seeing loads of cute clothes but its always pink or blue. I have bought the "I love mummy" sleepsuit from Next for £5 and thats very cute. Might even buy the daddy one too. I don't like a lot of the unisex clothes so just going to buy white sleepsuits and then send dp out to get some pink/blue stuff once baby has arrived.
Congrats on ur wedding Hassle! Hope you had a lovely day! And glad you had you scan aswell!
Rach: Glad its not just my OH who moans about buying stuff, and well done on your bargains! Some of the stuff I have bought is neutral, whereas others are clearly for a boy or girl, so I have explained to him that not all items will be used by bubs, they will be carbooted off! And whats wrong with buying lots of suits that are 20p each anyway!!! Bargain!!sir_monster wrote: »Someone mentioned KitKat (I think) that their jeans didn't fit from bloomin marvellous, well my size 12s were too small but 14s ok but could get tight towards end. Could do a swap with your 16s with my 12s if you want? Mine are short leg though . . .PM me if you want as seems pointless sending them back for £3!
Thats not a bad idea!!! I am planning on wearing my size 14s this weekend to try them out and I will see how I get on, and see what my mum thinks, whether I will need the size 16s going on how big she got (I know all women are diff but maybe a size 12 I could actually wear now!) I will let you know Sirmonster
Hope your ok CAFC, I found my MW abit 'heavy handed' on my 1st appointment, I am planning on taking my sis with me next fri to my appt (I presume this is allowed?) and she can be a witness!!! The past 2 nights baby has been lay to the left side of my belly button, and you can actually see my belly sticking out one side  (you cud actually see a foot the other night but we wont talk about that this early in the morning ) and that side was getting sore from the pressure, so I really hope the MW doesnt push too hard0 -

Busy mummy of 4.:j0 -
Evening ladies.
Been away for the last week, and its taken me hours to catch up.
Welcome to all the graduates and congrats Gill.
Got married last Saturday and had 22 week scan today, so been very busy!. Am on team blue. Hubby was so excited that they did a pic of the evidence just for him!:D
Can someone update me on the list, as have no idea of how to do it.
I remember someone mentioning an Anterior placenta (pigpen?) what does this actually mean? My print out from scan says I have an Anterior high placenta.
Congrats on getting married and team blue:j Very jealous... I want to know if I'm team blue or not!! I have my blue sleepsuits hanging in the bedroom looking very cute:D
I have anterior high placenta too but have been beaten up for weeks *confused smiley* When sonographer said it I was quite shocked as I didn't expect it.
I'm happy to say bean has been active this morning. Have been feeling movement in different places too so I think he's kicking as well as punching/headbutting!:rotfl:Maybe I bled because he moved position and because of the placenta???
Just had to go pick up DS from school as he has a naughty tummy:( Told him to stay in his room away from me cos a tummy upset is the last thing I need right now.BLOWINGBUBBLES:kisses2: SMARTIE120 -
ClareEmily wrote: »My MIL is quite a bit older than my own mum, and doesn't have much money, but I think she feels she must give us things for the baby. Well last time we visited she had fished out cot sheets which were 45 years old and my hubby's and siblings old baby clothes (which are SO dated and had been stored in carry bags, not good condition at all). I have accepted the yellowing sheets and clothes and did all the aw aren't they lovely etc.
Well last night my hubby said she had fished out their old moses basket, this I am sorry I can not use, I planned to buy my own, how can I put this without hurting her feelings, when my hubby has obviously just gone "oh lovely"?
A lesser issue is my dad and step mum, they asked me when I wa 8 weeks pregnant whether I wanted their old cot (I don't know whether she lost a baby, or bought for friend visiting, but my step mum is in her late 50's). At the time I should have said I would think about it or something but baby didn't feel real then so said yes.
I asked my dad what it was like but he has no clue as being stored up North, now I know with a cot you can clean, re-paint, buy new mattress etc so I am not so worried about this as the above mentioned moses basket. However on a safety issue will the spaces in an old cot be too wide? Anyone any idea how wide spaces should be?
They also bought a bouncy seat from a lady, as the charity shop she was trying to give it to refused it?? They are also getting a sack full of clothes from some random person.
Moses baskets all look the same.. accept it and buy a new one and bin the old one.. she'll never know.. just tell her you bought new covers from ebay or something.
The cot should be fine..check for definite how old it is to get and idea of whether the paint may contain lead or not.. a good scrub would be fine.. but lead paint would have to be stripped and that would make it not worth the hassle.
Start saying how much you have of everything and you are really grateful to everyone (noone in particular) and you have loads and don't need any more! and that you will have to have a good sort through and see what you can pass on to a pregnant friend.. then get rid of everything you don't want!
soak the aged sheets in napisan.. or dye them.. they should be fineLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

ClareEmily, she sounds a bit like OH mum, who's nearly 80. If it's something you really don't feel like you can't accept, bring on the PC brigade - say you'd love to accept it BUT the guidelines are so strict these days etc etc. Also, if it's something she's desperate for you to have, like hubby's old rompers or something, could you pick the best of the bunch and put bubs in it maybe just for a photo opportunity, and then not use cos 'they're lovely but fragile'? It kind of keeps the peace, without you actually having to use them IYSWIM?
Right, ladies and Bugfer, what do you reckon to the DreamGenii pillow? I'm asking cos our TK Maxx had 2 in stock for £30. I've half convinced myself I 'need' one, and just need someone else to say yes it's a good idea. Anyone got any experience with them?

congrats to gill on baby thomas, he looks adorable.
Congrats to hassle on the marriage and being on team blue.
I had a bit of a pamper session last night, I've felt so tired over the last week or so, because i've not been sleeping very well.
How is everyone anyway, I hope you're all ok.0
