Fuzz, i think i might get in the pool aswell, it looked amazing, although im not sure if il birth in it, think i may just try it for the pain relief then have the baby on dry land so to speak. think im just going to take a mahoosive t-shirt or nightie to wear in it, id be too embarrarssed to sit in it in the buff, even thought the midwife will see everything anyway - its official im a weirdo lol. our hosptial has 2 pool rooms so hopefully one will be free on d-day, although midwife said that most people who request to use it get to use it, she said you would have to be very unlucky for it not to be free.
im soooo melted back in work today its carp. and my appetite is HUGE i ate 3 bowls of cheerios this morning. that is not normal :rotfl:0 -
I'm taking a skanky old nightie to wear but it might get shedded if it gets on my nerves. I've also got a spare in case I need to get out of the water and birth on dry land I can get changed into something clean and dry. I'm taking towels for me and Bellymonkey for straight after, I'm assuming the one I use will want chucking - and another one for after my shower and stuff later.
At our centre they take the water level down slightly if you want the injection to speed up the placenta and you can usually deliver in the pool - saves you getting out with stuff hanging out of you.
Also take stuff for your partner as they will likely get wet too and will want to change.
Just thought of something else: some kind of plastic laundry bag for wet/ dirty things. Am having a panic pack of mine as I'm getting a bit worried I still haven't sorted mine and all this painting might just set me off.
BTW, I have a couple of odd pains - a pain in my right side - is this a pulled muscle from decorating all weekend do we reckon? It feels like a pulled muscle, but I also have pains in my pelvis like strong period pain. No bleeding or discharge or anything else disturbing and I feel fine otherwise.Bellymonkey due 25/09/10 :j0 -

I’ve got 14 days left, 1.5 of those I won’t be here thanks to hosp appts and midwife, 2 or 3 will be working from home, and yet no one still seems to give a !!!!!! about what’s going to happen. My boss is now on hols until 1 Sept (I finish on 3 Sept!). As I can literally hardly move now I am wondering whether to just get signed off, will see what happens at physio weds. I am going to spend tomorrow at home writing handover documents I think.
I could do that when it comes to it except I need to take screenshots of the system we use which I can't access from home. Oh I'm starting to find it all very funny now!when mine could not find the heartbeat she referred me to the hospital that day so I had an extra scan at 16 weeks. Everything was fine but I have an anterior placenta (its at the front) so makes the heartbeat harder to find and I felt movements much later than my previous pregnancy. The consultant took a good 5-10 mins finding it last monday as well and that was at 22 weeks
That's great - thank you, very reassuring.
I've just spoken to HR again, I can take my full 52 weeks leave and then take my 33 days holiday (25 + 8 BH) afterwards, so if I start my leave on Jan 7th, I won't be back in work (if I come back) until February 22nd 2012! the synto..is that the one that helps move the palcenta along? Yeah they probs will wash but I seriously have to reduce the levels of my heaving drawers/wardrobes:o I can't just chuck stuff out either..I have to have a valid excuse to get rid of it:o
So you and baby were still attached as you got out the pool???
Can you tell it's the logistics of it all that confuses me?:p:D
Yes I was still attached to the baby, the midwife just held her close to me so the cord wasn't stretched... It didn't seem odd at the time... :rotfl:
They did ask if I wanted to keep my nightie last time, I said yes because it was new... They didn't ask the first time, my sister just bundled it all up and took it home...A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... Afternoon all! I'm now on the countdown til I finish work - finishing on Friday and then using up my annual leave before my maternity starts.
Lilian - yayy for being able to use all leave up as well.
I would realy like to try a water birth as so far 2 midwives and 2 physios have told me it can be quite good to have the water bouyancy when you have spd. Fingers crossed one of the pools is free when i have to go in!
What did you think of the rooms dreambridie? and yes I was the numptie hobbling around on crutches!0 -
I hadn't really thought about a water birth but i am now thinking that with my hips it might be worth looking into. I really need to sort out looking around the hospital etc. I keep forgetting to look at the ante natal class info and we do really need to go pretty soon.
Just ended up getting down on all 4s in the loo to try and ease the pain! Thankfully it's a big disabled loo so no one saw!
lillian - you could take the screen shots in the office and thendo the ntoes from home?Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

Hello all
There has been some research done that water is the next best pain relief to an epidural so if birthing pool is available use it!!
Have been to tesco doubled up my £5 voucher to a £10 clothing voucher and got 3 pack of early baby white sleepsuits, 3 pack of white early baby vests and 2 pack tigger newborn sleepsuits, also did a bit more shopping (spent £22) so I could use a £2 off a £20 spend then used my £10 clothing voucher, and my other £3.50 clubcard voucher so shopping was just under £7.
got a great bargain of 21 aero bars for £3 - the multipacks are on any 3 for £3 and the aero milk was a 5pack plus 2 free.
cot bumper came today was a millie and boris one and cost me £5 inc postage from ebay lovely seller - luckily she has posted from work as she only charged £2.70 postage and it was £5!! She also sent me a brand new little rabbit teddy which was kind of her.
we made the cot, crib and moses baskets up yesterday all have sheets in them now as does the carrycot for pram.
All clothes 0-3mths are in a huge storage bag that mum brought them in and in spare room cant face trying to squeeze them in nursery
all newborn stuff is in chest drawers (have 0-3 and 3-6mths sleepsuits and vest in their too) and newborn outfits and some 0-3mth outfits in wardrobe.
all 3-6,6-9 and 9-12mth stuff in a storage box on top of wardrobe
so stuff is pretty much sorted.0
