Ah that's not too bad then - hope I get to hear the heartbeat but I hope she can pick it up otherwise that's a stressful 4 weeks for me until my next scan!

  • Hi ladies.......whats the collective experiences of water births??? What should I be asking and is there anything less obvious I'd need to put in labour bag for one???????

Had hopickal tour yesterday and just seeing the room has confirmed that I'd like a water birth if I can:D:D

I loved my water birth the first time around, the feeling as the water goes over your bump is like no other feeling in the world :)

I just got in the water in my nightie but some people pack tankini or bikini tops for in there... Or you can go in the buff... I only had my nightie on because my sister was there and I didn't want her seeing me in the bare lol... As soon as I got out of the water I stood there skin a bunny style while someone stripped me off so she got a good view of it anyway in the end!
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...

when mine could not find the heartbeat she referred me to the hospital that day so I had an extra scan at 16 weeks. Everything was fine but I have an anterior placenta (its at the front) so makes the heartbeat harder to find and I felt movements much later than my previous pregnancy. The consultant took a good 5-10 mins finding it last monday as well and that was at 22 weeks

I was a buff girl in the pool ;) I guess my mum didn't mind as she'd seen it all before. Plus I couldn't care less at that point that there were midwives seeing me in all my nakedness. I suppose you just don't care as you want it over and done with. But even now I don't feel embarrassed that I was noddy and I'd do it again.

I'm hoping the pool will be free again this time as well. Like krystaltips said, just the feeling of the water hitting your bump is AMAZING!! Like no other pain relief. Plus you find you can move over and round so much easier. You still feel like a whale but a whale in water :rotfl:

What did you do about delivering the placenta??? did you have to get out for this?

    Hi rach

Glad bubs is moving again but just wanted to add that if you rh- and it was a considerable bump you should talk to the MW anyway to see if you need an anti d injection

    Thanks, I’m not rh- thankfully!

Think bubs has shifted completely, I think the back is now down my left side not the right!

I hope everyone's well this morning, how's your tummy Rach?
I’m fine, thanks. Had a few runs to the loo last night with very loose bowels but think that’s just as I’d eaten loads of fruit!

That's how I feel - I've still got 96 days in work though so not too worried really at the moment.
I’ve got 14 days left, 1.5 of those I won’t be here thanks to hosp appts and midwife, 2 or 3 will be working from home, and yet no one still seems to give a !!!!!! about what’s going to happen. My boss is now on hols until 1 Sept (I finish on 3 Sept!). As I can literally hardly move now I am wondering whether to just get signed off, will see what happens at physio weds. I am going to spend tomorrow at home writing handover documents I think.

Delain – hope that they sort you out at the hosp. I seem to remember they have a few 2nd hand books for sale at bmouth hosp, just round to the left in the entrance

Sir monster – fingers crossed for reasonable BP today!

Sorry I am a grumpy, peed off girl today. Meeting a friend (well, she used to be in the youth group I ran) tonight, should be nice. Will be going somewhere right outside the station so should make it!!

Yeah I got out of the pool for the placenta and just layed on the bed while DD got herself cleaned up. I also got to see the Placenta this way as well which in itself is amazing! I would highly reccommend looking at it. My midwife showed it to me and showed me the sac that she had been living in for 9 months. Wasn't gross at all :)

I took a towel with me to wash with after the birth but I think my sister threw it over me when I got out of the pool...

I got out so they could give me the synto ... A midwife held the baby and I climbed out and they had pulled the bed right up to the pool so once I was stripped off I was put on the bed with the baby on my chest and then my sister cut the cord and they pulled the placenta out...

My sister took my nightie and towel home and washed them... I still have both... And also the nightie I gave birth in last time... I'm not squeamish... Everything washes up ;)

See I love stuff like that! Hopefully DH will be holding baby so I can get a good look at it all:D He's likely to pass out if he got a glimpse:p

the synto..is that the one that helps move the palcenta along? Yeah they probs will wash but I seriously have to reduce the levels of my heaving drawers/wardrobes:o I can't just chuck stuff out either..I have to have a valid excuse to get rid of it:o
So you and baby were still attached as you got out the pool???
Can you tell it's the logistics of it all that confuses me?:p:D
