    I'm sure it's been discussed before...so apologies...

Don't know if it's way early (I'm 15+2) but I'm hopefully going to buy some maternity jeans tomorrow. I already bought next size up jeans (size 14 which are baggy around the bum and legs) at about week 6 and have been wearing them since, but even these are getting uncomfy around the waist, although they are quite low cut ones.

Anyway, wondered if anyone had advice on whether to go for over the bump or under the bump. From looking at reviews on Next jeans it seems the over the bump ones are more comfy and popular. The under the bump ones seem to have comments about them falling down...any opinions?

Most of my maternity trousers are under the bump ones and i found them best from about 16 weeks. I found i had to go down a size in maternity trousers for them to say up, but needed the comfort of elasticated!! I found ASDA great for black trousers for work and nice and cheap :) I have some lovely under the bump jeans from Next that were brilliant, but i also had to go down a size, but they have been a bit tight and uncomfortable from about 28 weeks. Now im 33 weeks and loving my 1 pair of over the bump jeans as they are so comfy and stay up now, they are red herring from debenhams and were half price in the sale:j
So i guess from all that rambling - i found under the bump better from 16-28 weeks but found i needed to go down a size, but from about 28 weeks im finding over the bump more comfy!!

  • thanks for all birthday wishes.

stupid large plastic storage box i got from sainsburys yesterday has a large crack in and then a hole as well, no point taking back as they will say I did it so have taped it up and put all the 6-9 and 9-12mth baby clothes in from my mum, not sure where box will go yet and need husband to squidge lid shut as its a 44L box and very full!!

With regards to maternity jeans I have 2 pairs both next under the bump they do need tugging up every now and then but are fine, one pair was £3 in clearance store think I went at right time as never have 12L and there was a lady buying loads different sizes of them so she was obv going to ebay them (good on her is she has the time etc) and the other pair think I paid about £3 from ebay. I did have a pair of jojomaman over the bump ones from ebay but didnt like them so sold them on. My friend has both next under and over bump ones and says they all fall down and need tugging up.

I have brought most maternity clothes from ebay, anything didnt like/suit me re-sold on my works intranet and got money back so no loss, have brought few bits from blooming marvellous sales (they are now teaming up with mothercare apparently) and from next as needed linen trousers and only place that did them the length i needed.

If anyone is small, I have 2 ASDA maternity tops with elbow length sleeves, just plain t shirts, one black, one green. OH ordered them online and got an 8 instead of a 16, he forgot to change the size.

I'll happily post them to anyone.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY FREEBIE!! hope you have a lovely birthday!!

Giz - i think its definately a preference thing. i bought a pair of under the bump topshop jeans http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&catalogId=33057&storeId=12556&categoryId=209831&parent_category_rn=208537&productId=1646919&langId=-1

i have lived in them, although im 34 weeks now and they dont stay up as well as they used to, so looking back i think i should have got an over the bump pair. i would buy some now although im not willing to fork out for another pair which will only last 6 weeks.

oh also if your going shopping check out new look they have really long vest tops in, which if you buy a bigger size go nicely over bump and they have a good bit of stretch in them aswell.

RE DTD i cant rem last time i did. its too sore and most uncomfy!! my poor OH has been neglected. he keeps saying " i thought women were meant to get randy when they are pregnant!" i want to hit him over the head sometimes!! dont think il be doing it unless its part of the eviciton plan :D

Happy Birthday Freebie have a lovely day.

Maternity Trousers, ive always gone over the bump i find them alot more comfy but then i cant stand anyhting low rise normally anyway so could be why.

Kitkat hope your tooth troubles get sorted i hate getting tooth ache :-(

Bump touching, i dont mind friends and family having a little feel but i hate it when strangers try and do it who knows where their hands have been :-S

Well absolutely nothing is happeneing on the eviction side of things not even a twinge however i do feel like something is bulging inside my foof its a very strange feeling. I'm kinda hoping nothing will happen now until tuesday as we have a party to go to tomorrow and OH wants to finish his Community service monday and tuesday so he doesnt have to worry about it once babs is here.

Nene mahoosive labour vibes for you if you still want them :-) xx

DTD i have found i can only manage two positions either spoons or on all fours with my body pillow supporting my bump but then i dont care how uncomfortable it is i'm as randy as hell and i want this baby out (but just not in the next 48hrs ;-))

I like my next under bump ones! they have the elasticated pull waist like you get in children's clothes!

    It's tops I've really struggled with :(

Bought some size 20 vest tops in tesco (I'd spilt something on mine and these were reduced to £2!) and found that they assume if you're a size 20 your baps are round your knees  you could see my bra pretty much all over :o should say they only had 20, an 18 probably would have gone over bump too!

I've spent the last 2 weeks in a couple of mens XL T shirts OH picked up for me!

i know what you mean delain, i have found most of my maternity tops show way to much clevage, which i cant do working in a secondary school. They do assume if your a size 18 plus you have massive shoulders and neck area!! I found some good maternity vest tops in next that were nice and high and have been wearing them under all my maternity tops!!! which made me way to hot when it was really warm! Crazy!!

Dreambirdie - this is why I wanted to get it right first time. Trying to be MSE. I reckon I could probably get a bit more wear out of my lowrise jeans...undoing the button after lunch! The first thing I do when I get home is stick my joggers on...so comfy :)

Yep, same. It seems to me that whatever size I am, things just don't fit.

I've got long arms, and when I was a size 8/10 on top the sleeves were too short, as well as not being long enough in the body. Even now at a size 16, I find the arms are still short!

I have wide hips as well, and however much weight I lose, I'm never going to get in size 8 jeans, my skeleton says no :rotfl:

I like the fact that new look do the jeans with the 32" leg, they're perfect for me, as next R tends to be short, and L a bit long!

Ah well. As soon as this baby is born it's weight watchers and the gym here I come :rotfl:

Thanks Toothsmith :) just spoke to my sis who works at my Drs surgery (did this before I saw your post sorry!) and she explained how Drs don't like issueing prescriptions for dental matters, I'll try phoning my dentist but TBH I cant see them fitting me in, last emergency appt was about 2 weeks away when I last phoned. I shall see though :)

Thanks for sympathy Xmas, I hate toothache, there is nothing worse. I cannot cope with it and when it gets bad all I wana do is get the pliers and remove all my teeth..! I havent so far but thats only because my OH hides the pliers from me!! Hope things start moving for you, I havent had a twinge in days although (sorry if TMI) I have been loosing my plug for days now, I'm surprised theres anything left there! I would like the baby to come today, my MW is on night duty so that would suit me perfectly. Am booked in a week on Sunday with a diff MW for a membrane sweep and she seems pretty scary. If nothing by Sunday I am going Monday to see this 'woman' I mentioned my mum goes to see, who I found out is a Craniosacral therapist and researching them apparently their therapy can be quite beneficial in pregnancy. We shall see!

I really cannot believe this baby has swapped from my right side to my left.. I didn't even feel it do it!! I defo feels different but I didn't think it had moved so much! Amazing little creatures!!!
