My maternity leave officially starts on 6th September and after tomorrow I'm using holidays before then. It didn't occur to me that if I gave birth before mat leave starts I may lose holidays, I'll have to check our policy tomorrow. What is Occupational Maternity Pay? Is it mat pay on top of the legal minimum? I'm guessing that's it and we only have the legal minimum at work which would explain why I've not heard of it!

I'm taking both cotton wool and wipes in my bag! I have a pack of disposable wipes but want to use reusable longer term like you Rach I figure its easy enough if using reusable nappies. I was going to buy a load of reusables off the internet, then considered buying a sheet of fleece and making my own, but now I'm considering buying a sheet of bamboo fabric and making them out of that. I have a few bamboo wipes and they are soooo soft, plus I figure its only a few extra pounds initially when I'm saving loads over disposable wipes. Need to actually get around to ordering it off ebay though!

Only tomorrow left at work now so technically 7 more hours work but I bet I'll put in at least 8 tomorrow trying to finish everything off. I'm another one who doesn't do the same work as anyone else, but my boss is really good and my job is being split amongst a few people and I've been training for months, but still some stuff has ended up being done at the last minute hence my panicking. Still, once I finish tomorrow I expect I won't worry about it too much, I'm pretty good at switching off from work these days.

Oh Smartie poor you and your DS, hugs to you both. Don't feel guilty, you're no use to him if you wear yourself out.

I nearly forgot about the August/September thing. Mine is due 9th September and everyone tells me September is a good month etc so I've just gone along with that thinking - so it's good to hear the other side from you all. However I'm not allowed to have the baby until at least 25th August cos OH's DDs are now on holiday and I have strict instructions not to give birth until they're back.:D:D

oh I'm sorry smartie, hope everything goes well tomorrow for your son. Bless that's so nice of him saying he doesn't mind you going home! Make sure you get some rest and when he comes round tomorrow I'm sure he'll have plenty of sweets and treats from you.

I've spent the day trying to cut back on money, so we're not struggling as much when I'm just on Stat Mat Pay, Silly things like magazine subscription etc, but as tesco says every little helps and it's better in my pockets than theirs!

Krystal i never realised you werent on it shows ow uch attention i pay lately my brain is complete mush now. Forgot to ask you how did your day at the zoo go ?

We ended up giving the zoo a miss, Hubby's got a problem with his innards and the Dr signed him off for a week so he thought it unwise to spend the day at the zoo so close to work when he was supposed to be at home resting...
