what size house are they living in for 87 quid a week?

    Probably something like this:

I'd imagine property/rent prices are pretty low in Anglesey. Anyway, housing benefit is available up to £1,100/week (recently reduced from £1,800/week). They say in the article they're waiting for a bigger home.

it's worth noting that even though benefits have risen birth rates have fallen. there really aren't that many families like this in the country (the average number of children a woman has is something like 1.7 now i think).

    Factually incorrect.

The birth rate fell until some point around 2000.

In recent years it's been rising - and yes, whether you like the political points that can be made from this or not, that rise is largely attributable to immigrants and those on benefits (though please note these two groups are not the same!).

Well, according to this article from late 2009 from the Daily Mail, there are now over 1.2 million families getting over £15k per year in benefits. That is a hell of a lot.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1227287/Households-receiving-benefits-15-000-year-doubled-Labour.html

    And repeated in the Telegraph;

  • Sorry.

I don't think I am wrong at all & it makes no odds to take it down or put it up.

But as you said if I don't think its wrong put it back up.

    So its gone back up.

Now swallow it & shut the !!!! up.

Good. Now even more people can be disgusted by it and by you.

    Why disgusted by it?

The only thing that is disgusting on this thread is the OPs comments about wanting to starve children & your attitude & language..

    Get over yourself.

  • Ive read this thread fro start to finish and Im confused. 1984 Returns for real can you clarify your view regarding the family concerned in the OP,s link?.

Are you saying that they deserve the amount in benefits? or that they are entitled? which they clearly are given the rules of the system. There are two issues IMO.

My view is that people who have no intention of working ,like the family concerned relying on the benefits system should be made to work for the Local Council, thats what happends in Spain. If your out of work and sign on you have to work so many hours per week/month for the Town Hall. This may be white-washing buildings, cleaning the streets etc.

There should be NO free ride. EDIT: We should only subsidise the first 2 children (child benefit) if you want more children then you should pay for them.

    What are you confused about?

The OP stated he hopes children starve.

    Nothing confusing about that.

I'm asking you to clarify your view, nothing to do with White Horses post.

TBH your answer is a bit like a politicians in that they don't/won't or can't answer the question asked...

Is your view that the family in question Deserve the amount they receive? or are you just saying that they are entitiled to the amount they recieve?..

I'm not trying to trip you up here..... My opinion is that they don't deserve it but are entitled to it purely because of the rules governing benefits....

Jeezus, you try and help some people.......Why did I bother.I'm off for a bath and read this months Treasure Hunting(metal detecting) magazine..:D
  • You are obviously some sort of cretin who isn't worth arguing with so I won't.

I will take my own advice.

I have neither hinted I have a point of view or that have a point of view.

There is no point to clarify.

But if you want to know my opinion on the matter I will save if for a thread worth discussing it on.

Don't get the pages wet... :o

The people in the OP are entitled to th amount they receive based on current rules. This does not mean I agree with the rules.

I have 2 children and I receive child benefit and roughly £10 per week child tax credit. If I had a 3rd or 4th child child benefit would increase but child tax credit would not.. I cannot see why this can not be the same for everyone
