unless you're a police community support officer

Yes I heard about this, but they at least called for help, maybe they couldn't swim I dont know.
But I think the mother agrees with what I said rather than WhiteHorse's comments about walking past and waveing to them!

What if the person drowning was a known !!!!!? Would you possibly sacrifice your own life to help them? Seriously, I am interested. What if it was someone you just despised?
I know what I would do, but please let me know what would you do as I am very interested in the type of character you are?

it depends who it was.
don't tell me, you would save anyone. even if they had raped your mother or daughter or sexually abused you - you would go diving in.
what if it was a drug dealer who you knew was dealing to the local kids?
Super MM would be diving in to save them.
I think there are shades of grey. anyone who doesn't is a fool.0 -

You truly are a sick individual aren't you?
If I couldn't swim, had a phobia of water or disliked this person, this would not stop me from at least calling for help.

Either way, the kids are born into this and had no choice, so do not deserve to 'be starved' or 'allowed to be starved'.
Yes I agree the system does need to be looked at, to stop people taking advantage of it.

Not the same at all. The problem with society is that nobody is expected to take responsibility for their actions. Lots of people on here are blaming the system rather than this family. Yes, the system is certainly screwed but this family are not automatons. They make choices. If their benefits were to be stopped or reduced then the impetus would be on them to make the choice to either find work in order to fund their lifestyle choice and give their children a good home, or do nothing, in which case it would be themselves causing any problems that this second decision brought about.
At some point responsibility is going to have to come back in a big way as the culture of "it's not my fault", "I'm entitled to" is not going to pay the welfare bill. They can have as many children as they like but at some point the system is going to buckle and the taxpayer is going to say "enough".0 -
Ok it's getting a bit silly now but I'll run with it....
Person drowning analogy.
This is the 14th time he has been in this situation...yet has never learnt to swim. Everytime he is saved, at great cost to the tax payer, he jumps back in.

You dont, you get the men in white jackets to take him away after the fourth time
Agreed, completely going off topic now, but yes the system is flawed and needs reform.
