I noticed this when I first looked on here but wasn't sure how bad they actually were (I just randomly picked pages to look at over the 100's!!). Perhaps you could help with what we should look for as we saw one in a local shop for £700 but can't remember anything other than its 2000 pocket springs and zip and link (as at first we thought my other half would be prefer softer and me firmer) but after lots of differing opinions we no longer know whats best!! We are both large (and heavy) and he is 6'6''. Both have back problems and I have problems with my hip.
If possible it's best to find a compromise on firmness between the two of you, rather than going for zip & link. This way is gives you more options for turning the mattress (most people don't like swapping sides of the bed).
As you say you are both large people, then you may be better off with a firmer mattress.
I personally recommend between 1000 and 1800 pocket springs. With higher spring counts the springs are smaller and weaker, and can get damaged easier.0 -
Hi Tim.
Would you recommend a mattress protector on a La romantica venice mattress (with climasmart covering) ?0 -
Hi Tim.
Would you recommend a mattress protector on a La romantica venice mattress (with climasmart covering) ?
I would recommend a mattress protector on all mattresses, as it is far easier to wash a mattress protector than it is to clean a mattress. However I would only use a thin one if I were you. A breathable waterproof one would be best.0 -
Hi sorry to but in but Tim, is this a decent example of a memmory foam mattress.? From reading tons of threads on the subject I just started to get really confused, this one seems to have what you reccomend regarding lots of large pocket springs and the thickness of the foam layer!!
Cheers, Jon.0 -

Tim Deegan - I know I cannot PM you but if you are not allowed to recommend on this thread would you mind sending me a PM ? We are thinking of buying a Westminster Chelsea 4'6" 1500 pocket with Memory Foam both sides. The price is good but as it is on line we can't go and try it. If this is a no no, can you suggest any alternatives ? The thing that is putting me off is a 1 year guarantee ! Is this normal or what guarantee should a bed have. Many thanks."0844 COSTS YOU MORE"0
