I haven't received my April addition yet, so l will have to wait to read the reviews on there.
I've had a look at the Miele website and l cannot find one that is bagless - do they not make one?
If the miele machine is cheap enought to buy it might be worthwhile encurring the cost of the bags if it lasts ages. The dysons are expensive to buy but have not extra costs, but may die quicker....it's gonna need some thought.Sense is not common.0 -

You should have definitely received your April mag by now. They always send them out at the beginning of the month. If you ring them up they'll send a replacement...I've had to do that a couple of times when they've gone missing in the post.

Thanks Tark, l called them up after l read your post and they are sending another one out. Thanks for the reminder, l'd forgotten all about it.
I noticed this while l was on the which site:

You get a 30 day free trial and a 3in1 digi camera as the free gift - signed up online - will probably cancel before it runs out - need to do it 7 days before the end of the free trial.
I thought it was quite good as l don't have a web cam and this will do the job for free ;DSense is not common.0 -
Well I had 3 Dysons in a year (two DC01s then a DC02 I think) and ended up getting a refund as they were "not fit for the purpose". My wife wanted an Oreck after seeing it on QVC. They work quite well and are very light but are very poor round at getting direct from round the edges of skirting (as the brush is not the full width). The most effective one that I have is the Henry with the upgrade to a powered head. I have never seen anything on the market as good as this, but its a fair weight to lug around and there is a mass of cables that you need to look after. These are very easy to maintain and spares are readily available (though I haven't needed any in the last 4 years).
In answer to Sue's comments above - most cleaners will lose power very quickly if you use them for plaster dust etc. Some manufacturer's have included specific usage clauses in the small print - so watch out for these (I had an argument with Dyson about using the machine for DIY!). If changing the filters doesn't restore suction, then take the motor round to your friendly electrician/mechanic and ask them to change the bearings for you. I used to change these as regular as clockwork on Hoovers and Vax's when I had my own business. New bearings are usually around £5/pair. Its usually pretty easy, but some models (Electrolux) for example have used ceramic shafts (that break easily) in the past and won't supply bearings. So, just get sealed bearings from any local bearing firm - hence the recommendation to take it to a mechanic.
As far as Miele is concerned. My boss swears by them. After a very negative experience, I wouldn't recommend Dyson.0 -

These posts have been a great help.
Have sent off for the miele catalogue so will be studying that.

I've had a dyson dc08 for about a year now and i can't fault it for cleaning. it picks up all doggy hair and everything else i used it on. I really can't fault it, but its good to know about the £49 refurb thingy. Might come in useful in future....I like to save the money...0
