Hi everyone
Has anyone got any experience of the miele vacuum?
I've currently got a dyson which needs replacing (havn't been that impressed as bits started breaking off after only 1 year) and am thinking of trying the miele range. Need a good vacuum - dogs, cats & children!
Any advice much appreciated.

Haven't any experience of Miele cleaners, but this month's Which? magazine has just done a test comparing vacuum cleaners and Miele are their recommended brand...several models come out as their Best Buys. Miele have been recommended by Which? for several years now.
Which? don't recommend Dyson as although they do well in the cleaning tests, they have a poor record for reliability....guess that's no suprise to you!
Just waiting for my 4 year old Dyson to expire...should be any time now
If you want any further info on the models they tested & prices, let me know & I'll dig out the mag & have a look. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Can't fault the performance of our DC04, but - echoing what has been said thus far - the build quality isn't up to much. It's easy to service and fix, though, so it'll do us for a good few years yet. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Ok, here we are...brief summary of the best bits :)
Which? have 7 Best Buy cleaners, of which 3 are Miele:
1:Miele S571, best of the seven AND the cheapest!
Which say : "Miele is undoubtedly the best vacuum-cleaner manufacturer around...Best vac tested, superb value for money... doesn't have its siblings fancy attachments , and its motor is less powerful- but neither does anything to diminish it's cleaning ability...particularly effective on wooden floors...excellent on carpets too"
Best online price £100 https://www.hughesdirect.co.uk/which
Best high st price £120 miller brothers.
2: Miele Revolution 700.
Which say "good for heavily soiled carpets, packed with handy extras...slightly better at cleaning carpets than the other Mieles...electro brush head works well on pet hair"
Not cheap- best online price £241 from Hughes direct as above. Best high st price £300 Comet.
3: Miele Cat & Dog TT
Which say "good choice for pet owners, not ideal for allergy sufferers...turbo brush works really well on pet hair, though the much cheaper Miele S571 is just as good for pet hair, even without a special cleaning head...handy mini turbo brush for seeking out discarded hair in awkward nooks and crannies...doesn't filter out allergens but special filters available separately"
best online price £153 hughes direct, best high st price £179 Allders.
Finally, two Dysons get an Honourable Mention,
1:The DCO7 Animal...good cleaning, but loses points for being very loud and reliability surveys repeatedly show Dysons need more repairs than other brands.
2: Dyson DC11 all floors telescope...selling point is distinctive design, but downside is that it needs a lot more assembling when you want to use it. Dust pickup on carpets also not up to Dyson's usual standard, and again, reliability stops it from being a Best Buy.
Hope that helps! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Thanks from me too - you've just saved me from spending another £200+ on my 3rd Dyson. They do clean well but suffer with short life span.

We bought our Cat & Dog about six years ago. It was brilliant at first, but following an extension (masses of fine particles of dust) it has never been quite the same since. I would probably buy another one, as the only real alternative is the Dyson which I have heard mixed things about. Hope this helps. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. We bought a Miele Cat & Dog TT around 10 months ago. Couldn't be happier with it ;D. It is quiet compared to every other vacuum we have had. The bag emptying is a doddle, and it is superb for cleaning off cat hairs with minimal effort. My mother is allergic to cat hair but she hasn't suffered since we've had the Miele.

Just to cloud the waters a bit.
Have a 7 year old Dyson DC01. Hasn't been the best for reliability, so I looked for a replacement last year when it just conked out.
Miele was the definite best buy - any of the models above look good.
I phoned Dyson service department - for £49 they replaced virtually everything except the motor on my old cleaner.
So I saved £100 over a new Miele, and didn't have to adjust to a cylinder. If you're on a tight budget, this might be an option.0
