  • spare a thought pretender for all those with limited mobility who quite possibly will lose their money with nothing to show for it. On the other side of the coin it should have happened a long time ago and these poor people would not have been duped out of their hard earned cash.

I do appreciate what you are saying & that’s precisely why I am so happy.
The people you mention will not get their money back even if the company was solvent.

This company has been causing heartbreak & devastation since the day they opened for business, just open any forum and read some of the heart wrenching stories.

This is a company that will, without any conscience take a person’s life saving without a second thought and utilise every trick in the book to make it impossible for the unwitting customers to have any legal recourse.
They are experts in delaying tactics, so that it becomes too late to take legal action.

They have names of company staff which they use i.e.: Jenny Simpson, that does not exist, it’s a made up name to give customers.
Customers with cause for complaints telephone Great British Mobility & ask for Jenny Simpson, ‘Please wait’ they are told ‘We will check if she is in, no sorry she is not at her desk, please call back’. Etc. etc. and so it goes on.

The country is better off without this robbing cheating company.
    So GBM..................:beer::rotfl:

This company is still trading. They told me today they have been bought by another company.
I had made an appointment for a salesman to visit me on Friday but after reading these posts I cancelled it so thank you!!!

Yes, I discovered that they have been brought by another company - but it is run by the same guy...how do they get away with this?!
My 80 year old mum was co-erced into a £326 deposit after a 3 hour pressure salesman in her home (just did it to get rid of him in the end). Luckily I was able to put a stop on the chq before it was cashed and have sent cancellation notice by recorded delivery and email...
Did I see a message that someone was trying to get a list of complaints together?

Update - I went to a reputable store on Saturday and purchased the bed my mum wanted for almost £1200 (33%)LOWER than the price this company had given - for Exactly the same bed - although I doub't she ever would have got the right bed from them based on previous posts....

I have also made a formal complaint to the insolvency service because after hearing a r4 moneybox item, found that they will investigate such scams if people formally lodge a complaint - so I have......:D

Just look up the insolvency service if anyone wants to do same...
  • I have read many of the complaints about this company and would love to join any group that want to take action against them. I bought a chair and mattress last year. Goods on arrival werent' as described by rep.Made them take back. Tried for over two months to get money back, nearly £3000 NO JOY. In the end they took £500 off and I got replacements, still not as promised but I was so fed up. Now or rather a few months ago the bed was killing me. It had gone all flat and making my skin sore. The chair's stuffing has gone all flat and isnt really comfortable anymore. Will not go into all the ins and outs with these crooks but I sent a letter last week after being told I wouldn't get my money back as they were in the hands of the recievers.I gave them 7 days to reply- got 3 phone calls and a letter offering to change mattress and come to my house to restuff chair out of the goodness of their hearts as nothing is wrong with their goods. If they have nothing to worry about WHY are they doing this. I could take up their offer and maybe get a bit of comfort for a few more months but now I know I am not alone I want to sue the B....... Let me know Phoebe7
  • I have just checked the gbm advert on line and way at the bottom under the credit card ads it says this; "MRG MOBILITY2 and "THE GREAT BRITISH MOBILITY GROUP" are trading styles of THE MOBILITY RENTALS GROUP LTD. Whatever that means. I will try to get onto company house and check somethings out later. Phoebe7

A customer of mine had a close call with the Brit Mob a little while back but she recently had a call one evening about 8pm from another mobility company (apparently) asking her various leading questions, saying it was some kind of survey. Questions such as what her age was, whether she lived on her own and did she have a mobility chair and how old was it etc . What was also was strange how they already had so much of information to hand inc her name and the fact she was elderly!?

Anyway, after the questions the woman caller thanked her for her time and said she would like to offer her a free pillow/cushion for her trouble and wouldn’t accept a “No thank you” for an answer and insisted on having one delivered to her personally - the very next day! She was then put through to another member of staff who was to confirm the delivery details only then to say, they would also like to bring a chair along to demonstrate. Again, even though the householder said “No thanks I don’t want to buy another chair I’ve already got one", they said something like “Oh, but you will change your mind when you see this one!” and they somehow managed to get her to agree to them coming around the next morning!

Needless to say, this worried my customer a great deal having been coerced into purchasing things in the past against her better judgement but thankfully, in the end and without going into detail, she managed to ward off whoever it was who came calling the next day without having to face them, thank goodness.

Unfortunately I have no definite information on the company concerned (Though I’m sure there must be a connection to the Brit Mob). My customer would not give me the company details as she was firstly, worried that her sons and daughters will decide she is too vulnerable at home alone and will seek to put her into a care home and then she fears the company in question could sue if there was something disparaging about them on this website.
Sadly I could not convince her otherwise so I am unable toname and shame whoever these people are and help to try to put a stop to theirpursuit of targeting the old and vulnerable people in this way.
