  • If I can be of help, let me know.
Ever had a letter signed JENNY SIMPSON??? bet you've never spoken to her.
  • Hi

My 80 year old grandparents are thousands of pounds out of pocket and this company MUST be stopped. In this day and age for a company to be operating like this and getting away with it is beyond reproach. I am currently collating all of the complaints on here about The Great British Mobility Company and planning to do something about It. If anyone wants to get in touch and we can join forces, or if this is already in motion PLEASE contact me. POWER IN NUMBERS!

You have probably already done so, but anyone taken in by this company or other mobility pressure salesmen should contact Trading Standards through the Consumer Direct site:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Governmentcitizensandrights/Consumerrights/Situationsthatcanchangeyourconsumerrights/DG_194562

    Telephone: 08454 040506

In general, always pay by credit card, never debit card or cheque. You have 7 days after DELIVERY to cancel the goods. Send all communications by recorded/registered post.

Much tougher legislation is needed to deals with the many mobility company robbers who take advantage of the elderly as current trading standards regulations are woefully inadequate.

I did have a letter from 'jenny simpson' but I never got to speak to her. Luckily for me I managed to salvage my money by stopping the cheque at the bank, it cost me £10 but better that than the thousands I would have lost. I must say that the ads that are running in the papers are very tempting ie bogof but the cost once the salesman arrives is too great. To anyone contemplating a purchase beware of this firm, do your research and spend your hard earned money elsewhere.

Jenny Simpson does not exist, this name is given to customers who have any sort of complaint, when the customer rings in, or writes & asks for JENNY SIMPSON, this tell the staff to give them the run around (trouble customers).

These tactics have been used many times against this company & they are experts in dealing with 'complaining customers'.

I have known them to delay a customers complaints for so long, that court action against the company has been dismissed due to the length of time taken before the customer takes legal action.

A lot of promises made that reassure the customer that their complaint is being delt with, then denying any knowledge of contact with the customer.

Look for any detail, from beginning to end that does not sound legal,
ie-: false promises, & statements from salesman like-: all our products are made to your measurements esspecially for you, then think of how long delivery was. Was it just a few weeks, if so this bed or chair were on the shelf, known as standard order within the company. If you find anything call GREAT BRITISH MOBILITY AND ASK FOR....NIGEL EDWARDS. operations manager, or SANDY HINKS. or PETE KIDSON (Dir). ALWAYS THREATEN COURT ACTION.......DO NOT COMPROMISE ...

I pretty much agree with all that. These companies will delay responsing or dealing with complaints because they know that many of their victims are elderly and in a poor state of heath. They basically rely on them not being well enough of having the strength to persevere, and not having a friend or relative to take it up.

I would go straight to Consumer Direct (Trading Standards) and get them to deal with it when a mobility company is involved because so many of them are in my opinion dishonest scammers.

Very, very few mobility items are made to order and don't accept this as an excuse.

It's a national scandal that these companies continue to rip off the most vulnerable people in society and can do so without fear of severe punishment.

The BOGOF deals that are offered give the GBM a lot of profit through the people that fall for the advertising.

One chair, be it the Grosvener, top of the range, cost to the GBM £250.00. Retail..£2000.00 - £5500.00. £6250.00 if you want twin or triple motors, which would cost an extra £45.00 per motor to GBM.

Rise & recline bed single including 2'.3'' -2'.6'' -3'.00'' including any type of mattress to GBM £200.00 Retail...£1750.00 - £5500.00. as a rule of thumb. Salesman are given a wide range of discount offers if they feel they are loosing the sale.

all though i am very much impartial i work as a developer with a REPUTABLE ! mobility company and i must say that chairs with a wide ride of features can reach into the thousands. all reputable mobility companies do have to abide by codes of practice layed out by "The A.T.P Society" (quick google search) these actively monitor the standards of sales man and WILL take action if things aren't right

make sure anyone your buying from is ATP society registered, they will have all relevant paperwork

i neither sell chairs nor am i atp society registered , just sayin it how i see it
