Crumbs, so many people have painted such a grim picture, like a film set for some really cheap seedy movie. The MacDonalds in York Way is a magnet for odd bods, I wrote in an earlier post not the place to be seen in but on the whole as said previously Kings Cross is a bit grim but it aint that bad. Go see for yourself and post your findings................will be interesting.

Earlier this year,DD and I got off the bus at Kings X and set off for the travellodge.A fat drunk, carrying his bottle of cider, dropped his pants and spattered the pavement with the runs, pulled his pants up and weaved off.Broad daylight right outside the station. When you gotta go .....
Apart from that it was ok.There are several cafes between the lodge and the station where you can get a good breakfast to set you up for the day.
  • we stayed there 2 weeks ago and did not have any problems .the tube is only 2 mins walk away .for the price it must be one of the best value hotels in london

I stayed there at the Farrington kings cross travel lodge single female with my two children. Its not a nice area by any means but we never felt threatened. There were drunks lying on the pavement one evening as we where walking to the train station but I felt safe in the hotel and as long as you walk to the station and don't hang around its fine. The kings cross travel lodge is two mins from the station so I would rather stay there but would go back to both as its cheap and clean and easy to get into the centre. The station itself was fine, never noticed anyone hanging around.
But if ever I stray from the path I follow
Take me down to the English Channel
Throw me in where the water is shallow And then drag me on back to shore!
'Cos love is free and life is cheap As long as I've got me a place to sleep
Clothes on my back and some food to eat I can't ask for anything more

I stayed at one of the B&B's there in February, single woman with 3 children. Apart from the hotel being pretty grim I would stay in the area again with no qualms, especially inn or lodge,
The transport links are great, and we didn't see any trouble, weren't looking either like. We were getting home late int eh evening 10-11ish ans stopped in the noodle place for something to eat quite late one night, no probs at all.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.

i staying in the kings cross royal scot
love you lots like jelly tots :o
  • Kings Cross Royal Scot is not the one at Kings Cross Train / Tube station. This Travelodge used to be called Travelodge Islington. It is down the road from the one in Farringdon. It is about 10/15 minutes walk from the station.

I think that people have presumed that you were staying at the one that is straight outside the train station. That one is called Travelodge Kings Cross.
