As for the "missing" button (the single one that WAS on the right in 9.10) that's been changed to right clicking on the title bar (it brings up the same menu.)

    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

I picked up a cheap computer magazine down the market yesterday and on the front was a copy of Linux mint and I wondered if it is better than Ubuntu 10?

    Hi
    Mint is based on Ubuntu.
The main difference is that it comes with the audio and video codecs already installed. With Ubuntu you have to do that bit yourself after installation.
Give the Mint Live CD a try.

I've not tried Mint since Elyssa - which was released 2 years ago - so no doubt it's changed a bit, but I'd say it's different, not better. If you prefer its look & feel then use it instead.

The main difference is simply the user interface - all of the main underlying components are derived from Ubuntu anyway. The only other observation is that it ~may~ be more stable because they have a different approach to updates between releases, though in the last few years I've only once had stability problems with Ubuntu's updates.

It's also worth pointing out that it lags behind Ubuntu by a month or so, so I'm fairly sure that the current Mint release will be based on Ubuntu 9.10, not 10.04.

    It is.

If they want to try Mint, then they should probably hold off for a short while. Last time I looked, I think a blog post on the Mint site said that the next new version would be released in less than a weeks time.

EDIT: I mean as an install. Trying the live CD of the last version should give a flavour.

Been using Mint as my main OS for a few years, since Mint 4 Daryna. Currently using Mint 8 Helena and looking forward to the release of Mint 9 Isadora in a few days.

It's an excellent OS and a very easy starting point for convertees from Windows.

Just installed 10.04 today on this old desktop I'm actually posting this from. Will continue playing around with it.
