As a Ryanair devotee ( who has been inconvienced serveral times...once by 5 hours....:(...), I have flown with them dozens of times since their formation, plus expansion.

Firstly they are plainly responsible for the freedom of air travel granted to the EU population over the last ten years, when governments and state airlines wanted to restrict air travel to only the rich, privileged and famous.........now we ALL...can feel like that.

They are also partly responsible for us living the dream of home ownership in France and AND more importantly, allowing my wife and I to make our own plans for the future...ie retirement.

This was an inadvertent side effect of using Ryanair, but one you can't measure or value......but to us its been PRICELESS!!!!

No, I don't like delays or crap service.....but for the most part they get it very very right in the eyes of the EU traveller!

My own worst ever expereince as an air traveller....?..at the hands of BMI, 4 hours late, then missed a connecting flight....lost a days holiday.......I don't work for Ryanair nor have any connection.

God bless Mr Michael O'Leary........................but only when it all goes smoothly......lol

Well, well. Would ya just look at that!! Yesterday Mr. O'Leary issued a press statement indicating that Ryanair is giving serious consideration to sueing the gov't for......wait for it! COMPENSATION following the recent airport disruption.
Was he personally injured? Did any of his planes crash?
    Was the company safer?
I had a good laugh at this statement, but I still feel that this kind of approach is...... how you say?... diabolical.

It is a bit different when you run a multi million pound company and have to cancel flights and let dwon customers through no fault of your own. He hasnt actually said he will sue them yet, he has given them a week to solve the security situation before he takes action. Bit different to being delayed due to an issue with your plane which needs fixing and the need to refuel the plane dont you think!

No!!! He's not potentially suing the goverment for our benefit, he's doing it so he can put profit before safety. Ok its a pain not being able to take more hand luggage, but these safety plans affects his business directly.

  • Unfortunately Ryanair is the only airline that flies to certain destinations from Stanstead. Several little airports in France which I visit are amongst them. I personally have never had a problem with them, they are cheap and offer a very basic service. Sit and fly - no champagne or in flight freebies, but the entertainment of watching the air stewards navigate the narrower than narrow aisles sometimes makes an amusing distraction!

You had a bad flight, delays are not fun, but sometimes unavoidable.

Due to the latest terrorist antics, passengers are no longer allowed to take any drink onto the airplane, so Ryanair should offer water at least to delayed passengers. Before this time though, you were on your own.

You ARE allowed to take drinks on board, as long as you buy them after security.

But Ryanair don't fly to the USA.

Yes, you are correct about not being able to take any liquids onto USA flights.
