Obvoiusley this guy is really bent out of shape about it and will probably be moaning for about the next 30 years about it.
chill, jeremy. Seriously.miladdo0 -
apcd2 wrote:dmg24, you are making nothing up however the key phrase in the article you quote is "limited or excluded", NOT merely excluded. Since the limitations are not explicitely stated it would be up to a judge to decide what they were.
Your quoted article also states a limitation/exemption only applies if the airline could not have avoided the delay even if all reasonable measures had been taken. Exactly what is reasonable is again open to interpretation. Going back to the OP's issue would it not have been reasonable to stick the spare part in a car and drive it from Stansted to Gatwick rather than having the plane divert to pick it up thereby causing further delay? Possibly not but neither I nor you are qualified to make that decision.
I apologise if I ever stated the OP was definitely entitled to x, y and z. Under the regulation they may be entitled to nothing or they may be entitled to refreshments, phone calls etc. Only a judge could decide exactly but there is enough leeway in the regulation to allow all outcomes.
I don't come over all litigious because my coffee was too hot/cold but I do get enraged when wide-boy o'leary hostage-takes to max out profits and increase his allready huge salary. Still. the stock market loves a winner.miladdo0 -

Yes indeed, and it was apparently liquid explosive. Oh dear. Well, it certainly puts all these minor niggles into perspective - hope they have caught them all and no-one gets hurt.0 -

Mmm does anyone think that the low cost airlines will have to change their operations?
I've always carried my own drink, food and medicines (which won't be a problem anyway), but dehydration is a real problem on airlines and can cause further medical problems. It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks. There is no need to run outside

Yeah, they won't be budget anymore. They will charge more and you will have to buy drink from the airline like other companies.Accept that some days you're the pigeon and some days you're the statue.0 -

Just look at the title of your post how arrogant do you sound?
"ryanair -Diabolical. I demand compensation"
Why do you demand it? Were you injuried? Did you suffer some form of horrible injurie because of neglect from the airline? Did the plane crash? Did you get food poisoning off the in flight food?
No you got delayed for 3 1/2 hours. Big woop. Annoying yes, could it have been avoided? We dont know it is upto the flight crew and the engineer to decided if it is safe to fly.
If this had happened to you 5 - 10 years ago you would not be demaning compensation because we did not have this stupid braindead culture of something small went wrong so I must be able to claim money off someone!!!!
As other posters have said on budget airlines we all know the food and drink is over priced so make sure you take your own when flying.
Have you ever watched airport? Have you seen all the stupid people turn up late/without documents/ whatever and argued with the checkin staff for ages about how they must be able to fly, blah blah blah. Do you sit there and think yes that person is right! If they turn up after checkin has closed they should be allowed on the flight? Or be able to fly without a passport or whatever?
No you see that its there own fault and they have to accept it. Ok in your situation it was the airline at fault but they have no controll over the aircraft brakes down. It is one of those things that happens.
The price you have to pay for cheap tickets is always going to be with customer service and all the other things that the more expensive companies give their customers for free.
Also just on a final note were you ever taught "I want dont get"?
Excellent post - well said sirHate and I do mean Hate my apple Mac Computer - wish I'd never bought the thing
Do little and often
Please stop using the word "of" when you actually mean "have" - it's damned annoying :mad:0
