I have almost finished listing all the books I have.

I am now up to 5745 seperate listings. There are about 250 books I have more than 1 of. So that should mean I have 6000 for sale at the moment.

    I am addicted. yellowpages.giflibrary.gifyellowpages.giflibrary.gifyellowpages.gif

Matt, that's very impressive - when did you start selling to get to this figure? do you know what your % of sales to listings is?

I've only just started selling on Amazon and had 2 x 5* from early buyers but today 3rd one has left 4*. His comments were
"No lies about quality. Fast Post. Really helpful service giving peace of mind when I needed to change my delivery address. Thanks for your help"
What does he want to give a 5* I wonder.
Is it worth me leaving any comment or do I just have to go with the flow and accept that hopefully I have fallen off the perfect level early on so should only get better!!

I think you have just asked the 'eternal amazon feedback question'. There is no rhyme or reason - as you say - 'go with the flow'.

If you leave a comment you could appear 'petty' and put off other buyers. It's best to 'rise above it' and move on.

Good luck with future sales and lots of good feedback.

    FFM :)

Edited to add - I got this one yesterday - 4 out of 5: "Swift and efficient service. Many thanks!"

  • Hi,

I only started in April, but my ratio of books to sales is very low. I only sell about 100 per month. Which isn't great for the ammount of books, but I hope this will pick up over christmas.

    Hi Matt

Your figures are very similar to mine, 4360 listed (some have multiple copies so the number of books is higher).

I sold 123 books over the last 30 days.

Like you say, not great for the amount of books that we have. I put it down to not being able to keep on top of the falling prices.

  • Hi Matt and FFM I have about 1500 listed but sold 170 over the last 30 days not all of mine are books though as I have sold many CD's in that 170 - just wanted to add my figures in so you see if there is a pattern in the ratios.

I've given up trying to understand Amazon feedback.

Looking through some of the feedback for other sellers, I've come across the following: -

3/5 - fast delivery, book exactly as described, but I just couldn't get into it!

    and at the other extreme,

5/5 - seller sent the wrong book, but it's OK so I've kept it.

I've decided most buyers seem to think they are leaving feedback on their whole relationship with the printed word, not on their transaction!

I'm going to stop reading mine now, I think.

Wise words! I think we should all take heed.

  • I think part of the reason my sales to book ratio are low is because I don't go for the lowest price in a lot of the case.

For example 6 books I sold this week are not the lowest priced.

1 book I sold this week was for £75 and the buyer emailed me to say they were buying from me because of my reputation in my feedback.

I don't want to get into price wars, nd haven't got the time to check my prices all the time. I will stick to this formula and carry on enjoying it.
