Just noticed that the buyer actually bought this item yesterday! How come it took so long for the purchase to be completed and for me to find out about it? Also, I decided to close the listing, as I do want to keep the other one. I've emailed the buyer to thank her for her purchase, etc, etc. Haven't heard back, so I assume she does actually want the thing.

  • The payment was completed ages after the inital purchase and they wouldn't have told you to dispatch until the money was securely yours so there must have been a glitch with the credit card that took a while to get sorted out
  • Does any one know what how the "buyer waiting" process works?

I was listing a book and although one was available over £100 there was a buyer waiting at £30 and I matched the price although my item remains unsold??
I have never seen the "buyer waiting" icon before and not sure how it works, I had thought the item is sold immediately as soon as the price is matched?
  • Hi sara, your book needs to match the buyers requirements for there to be a sale, if they wanted 'like new' and yours is 'good' then the sale won't go through.
Assuming that you do match up there can be a delay of several hours before you're told that it's sold, if it's sold it's a very nice price!
  • Many thanks AT, Mine is in as new condition and not sure if I should change it to very good or good?? does it have to match exactly..

I listed it last night and remains unsold, I'm getting a bit impatient if it goes through it will be my highest as I bought the book for £1.50!

Hope everyone is doing well with their sales, I seem to be selling one/two items a day, though they're all low priced.
  • I think that so long as your book is better than what the buyer requested then it's OK, it seems logical to me to have it that way....even if it doesn't go through for whatever reason it's a book that seems to be scarce so there'll be another buyer along soon

I think you could change it to "like new" but its also possible that the buyer waiting offer has expired or the buyer has found a copy elsewhere and has cancelled his listing. Sometimes it takes the icon quite a while to disappear!

    Fingers crossed for you!

Do you know what the book is? Wouldnt build her hopes up too high there are thousands of scarce books where only one copy is listed on Amazon but the potential buyers of such items are even scarcer. Ive had the only copy of many books listed on Amazon for three years and they really do take a while to sell.

Just sold one such book for £ 40 where mine is the only copy with no reprints or other editions anywhere but its been listed for two years.

I'm doing a victory dance here..listed a book last Thursday, mine was the only UK copy and sold it today for £30 before fees (£26.22 after fees and before postage).

2 other books sold yesterday on Amazon and three on ebay so am back off to the PO in a moment.
