  • Check in your 'open listings' that the quantity has gone to '0'. If it has then it has sold and cannot sell again - even if it is still showing on the item page.

You should get the 'The sale of your item has ended' email eventually.

That's the thing...I've had the "The sale of your item has ended" email, but the listing still shows 1 for sale. I only listed 1, so can't understand how it's still for sale when I've had an email from Amazon saying it's sold. The money's even showing in my account!

"Your Amazon.co.uk Marketplace sale has been confirmed. We've deposited your earnings
from the sale of this item into your Amazon Payments account. This includes a postage
credit of £4.94. If you haven't already provided us with your bank
account information, please do so at your earliest convenience; we cannot transfer
funds to you until you provide your bank account details."

If it is still showing as '1' in your open listings account and you have a sale showing in your View your recent Marketplace orders, I would suggest that you manually close the item that is showing as '1'.

Then you definitely cannot sell it again - sounds like Amazon are having a few 'glitches' at the moment.

I've just had a customer email to say could she cancel the order because she tried to buy the item from me, Amazon said the sale had not gone through, so she ordered from someone else, Amazon have now confirmed both sales. Guess what? I posted my book at lunchtime, so when she returns it I will be £2.12 out of pocket for postage - Thank you Amazon!!

If it sells again, I'll be ok, as I've got one more (I had planned on keeping it for myself, though). However, if it does sell at the price I've put it up at, I'll be more than willing to let it go.

So, basically, the unit I put up has definitely sold, but Amazon's system isn't showing it as sold. It's also not showing two more listings I put up today when I click on "See seller's other items", even though I can get to them by going through Amazon's search engine and they are showing as open on my account.

Incidentally, what would be the cheapest and safest way of getting something fairly large sent to my buyer? It's quite heavy and she just paid £50 for it. I don't really want to use SD, as that'll cost a small fortune. RD won't cover what she paid for it, either.

I think it is one of Amazon's 'quirks' that this doesn't update straight away. It can take a couple of days before newly listed items appear in a sellers 'shop front' - so probably the same for 'sellers other items'

Well done on the sale BTW - did you look at Standard Parcels? they can cope with heavy items up to 20 kilos and you can add on extra insurance to cover up to £100 for £1 extra

Thanks for that. I was quite surprised, to be honest...

I've stated in my blurb that I will use a a trackable service. Standard Parcel isn't trackable, is it?

EDIT: Booked for pick up on Wednesday with Pharos International. Cost just over £9, but it's tracked. :)

As has already been said only DS is trackable and insured for over £32. Parcels are insured, but not trackable online.

  • I have sent several heavy parcels via Parcel Force 48 hour service which is trackable, majority of my items arrived next day.

I also found them cheaper compared to others I checked and they collected from the address I gave.

That's why I opted for Pharos - I've used them lots of times before (when selling expensive stuff such as laptops through other forums I use). Didn't really want to go that way with Amazon because the postage I got for the sale wasn't up to much. Amazon charged the buyer £5.50 shipping. It's cost me just over £9 (and that doesn't include packaging). Still, can't complain. I sold the item for £50 (got £48.24 all in all, after Amazon took their money), yet only paid £17.50 for it (brand new). I've made over £20 on it (when you take into consideration postage costs, etc).
