why would I need that when I dont smoke :T
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Ok, it's for the poor disabled people who do smoke and wouldn't be able to walk from their car to a rubbish bin 40 ft away from a supermarket door and then back again and get their shopping before heading back to the car which doesn't have an ashtray.
better?0 -
The purpose of the stubbing points is not to encourage or facilitate smoking in that area, but to encouraging smokers to put their cigs out.
Personally I feel people trying to avoid the due consequences of their behaviour are unpleasant. It's not smoker bashing, it's behaving like a nice, civilised human being.0 -
Well, this thread is about as useful as a ashtray on a motorbike ....
I think people should just throw their cigs on the floor, that way it gives a cleaner some permanent employment, and it gives tramps something to pick up and smoke. Ever the economist....Owed out = lots. :cool:0 -

Many a true word spoken in jest! Some people seriously believe littering is OK as it gives someone a job clearing up after them0 -

Nope, much easier just to leave things the way they are and have the ashtrays outside the supermarket door.
being a bit patronising to disabled folk are you not? refering to them as "poor disabled" :silenced:0 -
Does anyone have the figures for
1) Cost to NHS?
2) How much the UK government gets from taxes on ciggarettes?
Ive tried finding the info myself but am not getting very far with google at the moment.0 -

With the price of cigarettes nowadays I would imagine everyone who smokes are feeling a bit more poor than previously

heres a link for tax revenue on tobacco.

The NHS total budget is 100 billion and smokers raise 10% of that on their own.0 -
or a link to the bbc with figures
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7654153.stm0 -
the smokers are actually keeping the NHS afloat.
Without the extra £6 Billion we raise what would we do?
Thats going on the BBC's estimate that smokers raise 9 billion in tax and use 3 billion treating themselves.0
