IMaxiPad - Still dont get it

Well unlike most people in the UK I have now got my hands on an IMaxiPad and I still do not understand what you would use it for.
It is a Giant Iphone in every sense, the ipod function is a little better having more space to display info and there's a book reader which drains the battery 100 times quicker than a kimble but thats it. The lack of a camera for skype etc really does not make sense and I know there's a stupid addon but who wants a wart dangling from the bottom of the device.
The lack of flash meaning there is no facebook communal games like farmvile etc is a real device killer imo.
Its very heavy and a lot thicker than I expected, I certainly would not want to hold it for an hour plus. With the leather case that folds to allow "desktop" use its bigger, thicker and heavier than my lenovo S12 (which runs full windows 7 very nicely and plays COD4 oh and farmville
)
It just seams like a posers gimmick to me, I certainly would not give up my S12 and iphone for one.
HOWEVER, if they made it smaller by loosing the stupidly big black border completely and could half the weight it would actually make a lot more sense.

I don't get why you bought it if you didn't have a use for it . Please tell me you didn't pay a premium like all these eBayers didEric_Pisch wrote: »Well unlike most people in the UK I have now got my hands on an IMaxiPad and I still do not understand what you would use it for.
Your thumb on the bottom of that black strip: where would it go if the black boarder was not there?Eric_Pisch wrote: »HOWEVER, if they made it smaller by loosing the stupidly big black border completely and could half the weight it would actually make a lot more sense.
(Potential Apple fix: make the screen use a stylus as opposed to your fingers. Pros and cons of course.)0 -
Judging by the size of it, I'd hazard a guess it's designed to break into the industry of "portable" media tablets (like an Archos 7)Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them

I thought this site was moneysavingexpert.com. Why a buy a hideously expensive device that you don't understand what to it for? I sense bragging rights.0 -
This section is "techie"
Just because the site is for money saving doesn't mean we can't discuss technical things, the OP is merely bringing a topic up for debate

Thank you for pointing out what the section is, I have only frequented it for over four years as you can see from under my avatar.
I wasn't saying the OP was bragging about it on here - I meant why would you buy it to start with if you couldn't see what you would use it for. You are very defensive.0 -

Did you buy it?The lack of flash meaning there is no facebook communal games like farmvile etc is a real device killer imo.
I guess that explains why the iPhone accounts for most of the mobile internet traffic. Its very heavy and a lot thicker than I expected, I certainly would not want to hold it for an hour plus. Wouldn't a real laptop do those things better than your Lenovo? It just seams like a posers gimmick to me, I certainly would not give up my S12 and iphone for one.
Why do people have this weird idea that you're supposed to throw away everything else you own once you buy an iPad?HOWEVER, if they made it smaller by loosing the stupidly big black border completely and could half the weight it would actually make a lot more sense.
The border that stops you from accidentally touching the screen while you're holding it you mean?0 -
