Quality Street tins for Christmas - seen them in two stores so far for £5 and the tins look way smaller than previous ones

The new Kleenex tissues slimmer boxes say they have the same quantity and quality as before but he boxes definitely do not last as long.

    I've been Money Tipped!
I hate the way the contents are decreasing in size but I suppose the manufacturers are in a bit of a catch 22 situation.

They have to keep their profits up to satisfy the shareholders but have to keep them at a level their customers can afford.

So, it is pay more for the same weight or the same for a little less.

I don't mind paying the same for a little less, at least I can still afford to pay for various items that way.

If the prices increased more than they are already I would be def have to cut down on the amount /variety of products that I buy.

    ;)

I noticed a fair number of sweets from Aldi are shrinking. Dolly Mixture now 100g, fizzy laces now 85g, they were much larger

I agree I can see why products are shrinking but I just think its wrong that they don't forewarn, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth and reduces the trust I had with the brands in question. I now look at them with suspicion and am more likely to opt to go for another brand then I would have previously.

Thing is, they are more then willing to jump over themselves whacking on new packaging to announce a "new LARGER size" when the weight of a product has grown but once it shrinks they barely mention it with the exception of a few "new size" which still doesn't properly describe what has happened.

I'd feel a lot happier with a brand if they were just to send an email or announce via advertising that sorry, due to cuts and so on they had decided to lop off 15-50% off a product to retain the same price. It would show more care for those of us purchasing the item. The fact they are being so sly about it just makes me feel bad for a brand I'd otherwise thought were an honest and open brand.
  • I noticed today while shopping in Asda that their own brand pasta sauces which were 570g are now 500g, but still the same price. Also the chilli con carne sauce had disappeared from the shelf (as the pasta sauce had last week) so no doubt that will reappear next week in a 500g jar and all the other Asda own brand cooking sauces will follow suit I expect!
