The latest 'great shrinking food' that I found is Frylight oils.

The cartons used to be 250 ml but are now 190 ml. That's quite a drop!

Interestingly, Tesco (matched by Waitrose) are selling the 'new' packaging at the same price as the old. So 24% less costs the same! Asda is still selling the old packaging. My local Sainsbury's has reduced theirs but for how long?

ETA: mulronie, noticed multipacks of Crunchies are now 3 for £1!

    Another non-food one:

Large bottles of Comfort are shrinking from 1.5l to 1.2l.

Medium Daz boxes have shrunk from 25 to 22 washes, so I imagine the other Daz products will shrink too - and I think, from a recent trip to Asda, other washing powders are. I stood there for ages comparing whether this box of 42 washes was actually cheaper per wash than that box of 50 or the other one of 48.

I ignore the manufacturers' instructions and put in about half the recommended amount in and still my clothes come out clean. I remember one fabric conditioner earlier this year reduced its washes by 1. (I think 35 to 34)I looked at the volume of the bottles - had the older one at home and it wasb only reduced by 2%.

Pataks have shrunk their sauce jar size by 10% (from 500g to 450g). The price, of course, remains the same.

Update: it looks like they may have increased the price too.

What we need is for one of these manufacturers to actually be ' named and shamed' in a big way so that others see the error of their ways. Maybe then there could real competiton between them to see who could p*ss the highest and trying to top each other with boasts like 'no price increase or size decrease'.

Nah, I can't see it happening either - These companies have no shame!

There is a quite famous video on YouTube about the size of Cadburys Cream Eggs. They were denying that they had decreased the size until someone put a new one and an old one side by side on TV (USA).
It would be good if a list was compiled from this thread and maybe put into the newsletter.

This might have already been mentioned but I bought some club biscuits this week for the first time in ages and couldn't help remembering the advert 'if you like a lot of chocolate on your biscuit...' - they definitely couldn't do an advert like that anymore!!
