it's been 400g in asda for quite a while now!!! :(

everything is getting smaller rather than putting the prices up!!

As I said earlier on in the thread, manufacturers think we will not notice a 10% reduction in the size of the product, but obviously notice a 10% increase in price!

Of course we bloody notice the product size! Because of this, people are eating like 3 new size biscuits when they had 2 of the old size - that could be 2.33 of the old biscuit size. This is a small contribution to the obesity in this country!

Latest ones I noticed the other day = Whiskers and felix pouches of cat food now 85g size with same price - was 100g last time I looked so the 1/3 reduced price sale makes it not like for like with Sainsburys own which for time being still 100g pouches = Also Gourmet and Sheba are 85g as well. Kitekat still 100g. Luckily my cats seem to like the sainsburys one at present.
Choc ices 8 in pack for £1 was 10 18 months or so ago. Sliced 800g loaf should still weigh that, so check weight when you buy it on the veg scales or ask them to do it at check out. So far as I know it is just price going on up with bread!
Sainsbury own brand weetabix equivilants biscuits smaller and harder and same price £1.49 when I got some a week back.

with the bread, there are "new" loaves of bread that are not 800g as you would think such as the new warburtons wheat and white, looks like a 800g loaf, same sort of price yet its 750g.

    Nairn's fine milled oatcakes.

Organising packed lunches today I needed 2 of the cellophane-wrapped individual packs you get inside the boxes. I took the last one from an open box & opened a new box for the other pack, & put side by side the little packets were entirely different sizes.

So I dug the discarded box out of the recycling & checked, the old box's weight was 300g, the new one is 250g. There's a slight difference in the depth of them, but from the front they're exactly the same size, so you'd never notice on the supermarket shelf.

Not content with giving us less, the price has shot up too.

Fox's Chunkie 'Extremely chocolately' cookies 175g pack now seems to have
    7 in instead of 8?

Packet looks as though there's one missing..

You're not imagining this - i'm sure all their range of Chunkie Cookies were 200g packets and are now 175g.

Also Fox's Chocolatey Shortcake Biscuits were 150g in weight now down to 130g and to add insult to injury milk chocolate content was 74% is now 71%.

Really they should change their packaging design to let people know.

Which probably goes to explain why the elderly cat was losing so much weight when I thought he was eating really well by finishing off his pouches.

This is awful, there must a lot of cat being underfed and hungry if the owner has not realised the weight has changed, wicked!! :(

Now I'm thinking I had better check weight of dawg's Butcher's stuff. Bought a load from Approved Foods then more on offer from Tesco. If it isn't 400g can I'd be better off getting Winalot for him from Poundland..

I thought there was some kind of legal restriction with prepacked loaves that they had to be 800g or 400g. Interesting.

EDIT: There WAS a legal minimum, dating back to 1266! But it was done away with in 2008 :(
