Yesterday in Asda I was going to pick up the "special price" I can't believe it's not butter which was £1. The packet looked a bit smaller than usual so I checked and it was only 400g packet not the normal 500g packet.
Tesco have 2 for £2 on the 500g packs so much better value.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)

it's been 400g in asda for quite a while now!!!
everything is getting smaller rather than putting the prices up!! :mad:0 -
And of course, by reducing in size rather than increasing in price helps the government pretend that inflation is under control.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0

One I noticed a few months ago.
http://www.tesco.com/groceries/Product/Details/?id=267279301
These, along with the other cakes in the range, were £1.75 for 4. Overnight they became £1.25 for 2. The equivalent of nearly a 43% increase.Fog on The Tyne isn't mine all mine... but if I wanted it, I'd want it with a discount code.0 -

Nope. The statistics people who compile the CPI and RPI work out the numbers based on a "fixed basket of goods and services of constant quality and quantity". If the quantity changes, they take that into account.0 -
Noticed in @ldi the other day the bags of raisins have gone from 500g down to 400g for the same price. I expected better... Tut tut tut!0

Probably been mentioned before, but this caught me recently.
Noticed that my Andrex bog rolls weren't lasting as long.
Current packaging stated average 160 sheets / 19.84 metres per roll.
Previous pack was 241 sheets / 29.88 metres per roll.
That's around a third less :mad::mad::mad::mad:0 -
Is now down to 1.8kg. Thought it didn't look as much..0

The plastic carrier bags have shrunk as well. I used to be able to use them as bin bags, but now they're too small.0

Latest ones I noticed the other day = Whiskers and felix pouches of cat food now 85g size with same price - was 100g last time I looked so the 1/3 reduced price sale makes it not like for like with Sainsburys own which for time being still 100g pouches = Also Gourmet and Sheba are 85g as well. Kitekat still 100g. Luckily my cats seem to like the sainsburys one at present.
Choc ices 8 in pack for £1 was 10 18 months or so ago. Sliced 800g loaf should still weigh that, so check weight when you buy it on the veg scales or ask them to do it at check out. So far as I know it is just price going on up with bread!
Sainsbury own brand weetabix equivilants biscuits smaller and harder and same price £1.49 when I got some a week back.0
