Open and Direct have always come up best for us and are very good to deal with too.0

Shop around, use online comparison sites or go to Open and Direct as they quote from quiet a few insurers;)
But as Lovetotravel has said, Direct Line are fantastic:T:T:T I would never use another car insurance company again:)I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
the main thing is that if you do get a good quote from a broker like open and direct or direct line, ask them who the underwriter is, then even beofre accepting your cheapest quote, ring the underwriters directly, as some of them will take direct clients at a better rate as they wont have to pay commission to the brokers!0

Direct Line have never been anywhere cheapest for me
try the usual suspects, Hughes, Abbey, Surequote, then go to quidco.co.uk and check Endsleigh (were doing £32 cashback when I got mine) and also quotezone.co.uk its worth the half hour or so to see what you saveNorn Iron Club Member #64

Use the cheap car insurance link on this board.

Then do the comparison sites in the order they list. It'll take about 40 mins to do, but it could be the best paid 40 mins ever. My wife saved £300 using it.
If you really really feel an urge to use a local broker, then give them the best price you get and see if they will price match.0 -
We've been using http://www.allianz-ni.co.uk/Car/ for years, they always price match the lowest we can find at renewal time as well. No idea what they are like for younger drivers, but this year a 38 year old insuring a 1.2 Punto with 5+ NCD was £1750

2000 opel astra, i don't drive much, i would only drive about 3000 miles a year0 -
well then your best bet would be as the others have said open and direct or hughes etc, allianz will probably give you the best deal as they are underwriters who also have direct customers (ie no through a broker such as open and direct or hughes) so if you get some quotes, go to allianz and say this is what you have been quoted and ask what they can do they will either match or beat them.
also going through them will cut out the middleman brokers making things a lot easier if you ever needed to make a claim or wanted to change your car or drivers or address.0 -
Another vote here for Direct Line, beat all others for me by a long shot.Norn Iron Club Member No. 252 :beer:0
