Been searching for insurance tonight, and the following all need to be removed from the first post, as they either don't quote NI, or the websites have died / been taken over / don't do insurance.

    Cover.net

    Ford

    17 to 40

    Easymoney

    AON 01384 552 670 http://www.aon.com

    Catterall 01254 695 055 http://www.chris-thompson.co.uk/

    CoverSure (RallySure) 01829 733 880 http://www.dmatters.co.uk/

    Crowthorne Insurance 01344 771626 http://www.crowthorne.co.uk

Hill House Hamond 01733 310899 http://www.hhh.co.uk/ (can someone confirm tthis, but site dead for me).

    Privilege Insurance 0113 292 5555 http://www.privilege.com/

    QuoteLine Direct 0870 444 0870 http://www.quoteline-direct.co.uk/ (Actually https://www.quotelinedirect.co.uk)

My head is fried now. Will continue this tomorrow.

  • I think MotorQuoteDirect offers insurance to cover Northern Ireland, but I think there may be an additional clause or excess on the policy though.

    Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone knows of a company to try for a driver who is 80 years of age? My dad is a named driver on my policy and there are a lot of companies that won't quote for 80+. My renewal quote was £250 more than what I paid last year, though my company checked it out and managed to give me a quote that was £130 more than last year!

Yes, I am considering taking my dad off my policy. It's not that he drives my car a lot, more a case of 'in an emergency' or if for some reason his car is unavailable and he needs to go somewhere. Though, I suppose, recently, I'm away in my car every day..

*sigh* Probably makes sense to take him off the policy.

    Any suggestions though?
    Ta.

I'm sure it's already been mentioned but I just renewed through Open and Direct and they still managed to find the cheapest quote for me anywhere. This time through a company called Equity Red Star.

Even with taking my dad off the policy, most of the quotes I was getting were a good bit more than last year. Had a look at axa direct NI online. That was really the best quote I could find, down round £300 fully comp - pushed it up to £340 with some extras. That was roughly what I paid last year. Rang them up (online) to ask what the difference between their online policy and in-shop policy was. Very nice man answered all my 'stupid' questions. In fact, I preferred talking to him than the ones in-shop.

Anyway, found I have access to a 'discount' insurance through work and they matched £340, including my dad. Got the paperwork and it's from open&direct.

My 'current' insurers couldn't match £340, best they would come down to was £365. Which is a pity as I've been with them for a number of years now and they've priced-matched every year. Even called them from Vietnam one year to change insurers but they price-matched, took payment over the phone and made it all very easy when I was so far away.... not that that really makes any difference in this day and age.

    Am happy at £340.

Hughes are quite cheap. You get an online quote then they ring you and suddenly the premium drops sharply! Open & Direct are good too.

I got a quote from Direct Line for a 2001 Fiesta with 1 years NCD and for TPFT it was £1300!
