Hi,
We've been using Eco Balls for several months now, and have switched to washing at 30 Deg C instead of 40 Deg C. Not noticed much of a difference in the washing, although we do add a bit of fabric softener into the wash to get that just washed smell!!
Removing stains can be a bit of a problem, so you might have to use a stain remover every now and then - we got one in the box with the Eco Balls.
If you are worried about the cost, Lakeland do a similar product which is a bit cheaper - perhaps you could give that a go and see how it works out for you?
Good luck!

From their website: "Together they produce ionized oxygen that activates the water molecules naturally and allows them to penetrate deep into clothing fibres to lift dirt away."
This is complete rubbish!
Simply, they don't do anything apart from 'pounding' your washing (a couple of similar sized rocks will have the same effect). Most washing loads that are run without detergent will clean pretty well on water alone, try it yourself.
Bear in mind that they have so little faith in their own product they give you free stain remover!0 -
I recently bought the lakeland ones - yes you do get a stain remover free with it in the packet. Its £7.99 and I was skeptical at first.
We are alll delighted with it and have never had to use the stain remover yet. The clothes smell find and even though one of my kids works in a restaurant and comes home filthy and gresy , and onther works in a bar their clothes come out clean and fresh.
I would never go back now and cannot recommend them highly enough.

have you tried them? perhaps you can speak form experience?come clean?
oh and by the way before we used loads of washing liquid and still had to use a stain remover as well to remove the cooking stains. Its doesnt mean they dont have faith in it, just some get stains and need extra treatment.

The Lakeland ones contain some kind of chemicals so are completely different to the 'eco-balls'.
Either way, both companies blatantly fabricate the method by which they claim to work.
However it is good to see that people are realising they don't need polluting detergents to clean their clothes, plain water does just as good a job.0 -
I've been meaning to get some since my friend recommended them. As she has a little boy and got through loads of washing she reckoned that she got back her £30 pretty quickly, and no complaints with performance either.
Yes they work by pounding, but that is pretty effective. You've renewed my resolve to get some!0 -
Thank you for all your comments. Interesting to see opinions differ.0

We got our wash balls from JML direct for £5.99 +£2 p&p. I thought this was a bargain. We got 2 wash balls and the stain remover. I've tried others from QVC which worked as well and were much more expensive.
Must say tho that, as fabulous as I think they are, I do think that they don't always get tougher stains out as well as my old branded powder. The stain remover is good but I'm not sure if that does contain chemicals. Anyway I use the wash balls for 90% of my wash loads and just use powder once or twice a week - so a massive improvement on pocket and the environment.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

I've tried the Lakeland ones and also the eco-balls and also just washing on a quick low temp cycle with nothing at all and haven't seen any difference, so now I just use nothing and put a couple of drops of lavender oil in the detergent tray for a subtle scent unless things are really disgusting - and it works fine, yes even on nappies!!0

So much for Ecoballs, but does anyone use Dryer balls? They claim to make the load softer, so no need for softener in the wash (I can appreciate how they might do that, as they have lots of nodules that pound the wash as it dries) but they also claim that you save money as they reduce the drying time by 25%. HOW?
Has anyone out there tried them?0
