I love Lakeland. We went twice last year. There are so many things to do in the area.

We go to the Lake District all the time. I love it, it's the best place on earth

I wouldn't worry too much about your son. Just ring the school and explain. Is he on half days to begin with? That's what they do here. If so, he won't miss much anyway

I don't know if he'll be on half days or not. I hope so as it'll be a bit much to start him on full. I might even have the option to start him after Easter. Guess I'll find all that out when he's offered a proper school and not a failing one, lol.

It's so beautiful. Do you get the steam train to Lakeside from Haverthwaite? We love that. Then the ferry ride. Fab. And have you been to the South Lakes Animal Park? That's a great place. I never want to come home when I go up there.

thanks, but they are in school for that entire week I have asked already if it would be really bad to take him out that week and they said yes, and if I must then to only take him out for the thursday and friday, so he doesn't miss all the settling in with new teacher, new classroom, cloakroom, toilets etc.

it's a big jump from reception to 'big school'
