So how did he propose?

My DH's proposal was a bit cheesy but one of the most wonderful moments of my life
On Xmas morning 2003 I came through to the living room and on the wall was this huge message written in tinsel. I seen the "marry" bit and thought it said "merry" wondered why on earth he was writing "Merry Christmas" on the wall but when he got down on one knee I reread it and realised it said "will you marry me"!
He had Greg Lakes I believe playing too (one of my favourite Xmas songs). I for once was absolutely speechless!
We married in September 2004 and have a DD 2 1/2, hopfully there will be another new addition in the not to distant future!
I can honestly say despite our ups and downs he really is the most wonderful husband and father anyone could ask for!"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
I took hubby away for a birthday treat to a converted lighthouse B&B. It was a complete surprise and he had no idea where we were going. Not be outdone, three days later he sprung his own surprise and proposed in the lamp room.
We were all cuddled up looking at the moon and chatting when I said jokingly something like: "have you got something in your pocket or are you just pleased to have me here (snigger, snigger)" at which point he started stammering and pulled out a ring box and did the deed.
I was only joking about feeling something hard in his pocket as well - I was actually angling for a bit of nooky. When I saw the box I thought they would be earrings or something. I was so shocked when I saw the ring he had to ask me again.
He had the ring in his pocket for a month apparently waiting for the best time.
Sneaky minx."carpe that diem"0 -

Well I like to be different.......
Christmas cracker, ring, I asked him if he wanted to be 'engaged to never be married'. He said ' I suppose so'. That was 4 years ago.
We have talked recently about getting married for financial reasons, but decided it would be cheaper just to make wills.
We are romantic fools :rotfl:Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!0 -
I proposed to him, In foam bath letters stuck to the tiles ' I love you mor3 than anything, will u marry me?' i was running out of letters but still plain to see.
He didnt quite understand the question, but thought it was sweet that i leave him little messages after my bath. ... ... After many a tear from me he finally got it but he wants to do the asking to make up for him being a total spanner.0 -
These proposals are so good......keep them coming!!
I didn't get a proposal
We were laying in bed talking one Sunday morning and decided to get married! We then drove into town and OH picked out my ring. We had it ordered in my size and 2 weeks later I went and picked it up and put it on my own finger in the shop! The saleslady laughed!
Doesn't matter to me, we're getting married which is more important but sometimes I wish I had a nice story to tell:jGetting married 31st May 2011:j0 -
He engineered a reason to be late finishing work one night, which I totally believed, lol. So then we're in the car on the way home that evening and he didn't take the turning for our house. He said "Tell you what, seeing as it's getting late, let's have a meal out, rather than cook." "Ok, good idea," I said. (Turns out he had pre-booked our table.) So we're at the restaurant, and o/h seems to be taking longer than usual to eat his meal... suddenly he looks at his watch and says, "It's nine minutes past nine, I love you very much, will you marry me?" And he produces a little box...
It was nine minutes past nine o'clock, on the 9th day of the 9th month, 2009.
And I said yes as quick as I could4 May 20100 -
It was the end of the winter in Paris. We'd been together for four months. When people heard where we were going - the romantic city - they said 'ooh he's going to propose!'.
'Nah, I said. Too soon.'
He spent the week telling me that everyone thought he was going to propose. 'But I'm not, you know, I'm really not, don;t get any ideas.'
I assured him I had no such ideas, and I knew he'd wait till we'd been together at least six months.
On our last night, after an argument about how long he took to get ready, and after tramping round the streets trying to find a restaurant, we eventually found somewhere still open and went in.
As we ate, he reached for my hand and said 'Will you marry me?'
After a week of being told it wasn't going to happen, I was so surprised I asked him if it was a joke and told him to ask me again in the morning if he still meant it.
He didn;t ask me again, but we did get engaged. 15 months later we were married, and 13 months after that our baby was born:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

He proposed a week after Valentines this year. I'd just come off working 10 days in a row so he booked a table in an Italian restaurant for my 1st night off. The restaurant was packed and our table was in a dodgy place, right opposite the toilet and stairs, people squeezing past every 2 seconds. After our scrummy meal he took the ring out and asked me to marry him. My answer was "Eh?! Whaaaat!" He then had to ask me again. Oops! He said he wanted to get on one knee but people kept getting in the way.
I'd always said that once I finished uni and got a job that I would reward myself with a ring, I'd been looking for months and couldn't find one. I've never had a ring before so I'd used an online measuring tool and thought I was a size S. He knew all this so told the jewellers I was a size S, they persuaded him I wasn't so he got me an N. Turns out I'm actually an L so I've only just got it back from being resized! lol :rotfl:0
