So how did he propose?

The thread about reaction to peoples engagement has lead me to wonder how everyone got proposed to, or proposed to their OH's.

I'm not engaged although I hope it will happen one day I do love to hear the stories!

I wasn't proposed to....I was told we were getting married in June....I shrugged my shoulders and said ok....

We are still together after 17 years of marriage so I guess it was ok....

He hijacked my Dads 50th birthday:D:D Luckily he took me outside to ask, I'd have been mortified if he'd done it front of everyone:eek: And here we are over 3yrs later and in Feb we hijacked my Mums 52nd birthday to announce I'm pregnant:j

We like hijacking my parents celebrations...wonder what we can plan for their anniversary in November?:p:rotfl:

My OH brought me a cup of tea in bed on News Years Eve and then proposed by getting down on one knee - it was lovely being just the two of us and then we spent the evening celebrating with friends.

Paris, a bridge looking at the Eiffel Tower. I had been making jokes about him proposing during the holiday. So as we sat down on this bench at midnight and the tower lit up I said 'oh it's as if you'd planned it' (not realising that he had). Then I said 'Seriously if you ever do plan on proposing, you won't find a more romantic moment than this.'
At which point he got down on one knee and pulled out a ring!!!!:j:j:j

Barcelona, in the old square, I would have got down on one knee but was wearing white linen trousers.

haha, my now ex stuck his ring on my finger and said 'uh so what do you think?' Never actually asked! Suprisingly I said yes, unsuprisingly it didn't last!

  • My OH filled our flat with heart shaped balloons with ? on them for my birthday, at then end of each balloon was a little box with teddy bears in, on the last one I opened my Nan's engagement ring was on his foot (he knew that if he wanted to propose my nan's ring was the one I wanted as my grandad had made nan promise). It was v. sweet and a total shock

I once saw a guy propose to his girlfriend on stage at Edinburgh Castle with Lionel Ritchie playing piano and singing Three times a lady whilst he got down on one knee. Think Id prefer something more intimate but was very romantic.
