hi all
Just grabbing a quick coffee and checking in on here.
Nice and sunny today and Noah and I have been for a walk around the local charity shops( a bit of a mare with Noah, he insisted on buying a one of those stick things with a horses head on one end and wheels on another and then rode it through our small town flapping away;)) and got a rhubarb crown at local florists which we have just planted in a bigger pot.
Chicken roasting in the oven for tea.
We also bought a pack of cat food for the cats at the shelter tomorrow.
OH in bed with yet another migraine so no money again today:(
Having a nice day with Noah today....he is a lot calmer in his own home:cool:.
MSD hope all went well, love to you hun xx
Candygirl as the others have said a week is too long....I think as parents we all feel like a break now and again but expecting to go away for a week and leave a one year old is unfair and taking the p***. I think you need a long chat with her to sort it all out. Boo is HER child and your grand daughter. Hugs hun, it must be difficult and you must feel a bit torn.
Have only skimmed the thread so apologies if I missed anything else important:o0 -
Hugs to Diva and welcome to is76.
Candygirl....a week? no way...I have 5 grandchildren and I babysit for them when it suits and not overnight except for the older ones. I love them all to bits and spend as much time as I can with them as I never had grandparents and feel the loss, but I feel that your daughter is really going over the top with this request.....don't mean to offend you pet, just putting my thoughts out there.
not as nice today as yesterday but pleasant and I gather its to be the same for next few days....spuds are now in so will be watchingthem carefully love new spuds and don't rate the ones you can buy all year tround.
Dinner is spag bol...hopefully there will be enough to freeze half for a ready meal at some stage.
Take care all

Afternoon all
You lot are a bad influence on me, this afternoon I have been baking!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
We had nothing "nice" in the house, so made some Jam Doughnut Muffins from a recipe off here a Delia one I believe. a Carrot Cake, Ginger Cake and some Chocolate Brownies, the latter two courtesy of my well worn Be-ro book. There is also a 5 seeded loaf from the BM, so we are now stocked up.
Diva hoping you can read this and are on the road to recovery, thanks to SG for keeping us posted. I have left a message for Pen-Pin to see how she is doing, but no response so far, but she may be away for Easter. Bbird good luck for tomorrow  at DH. :grouphug: to you all and all others not on top form.
CG - there is helping and being taking advantage of, and I am in agreement with the rest on here. :grouphug: horrible situation.
All units emptied and stored away, DNephew coming down tomorrow to help DH get the furniture in the garage. Washing a couple of dust sheets so they are ready for the onslaught. We were due to go away for 4 nights to Ellerton Lakes near Catterick next Thursday, but one of our best friends mother has died and I have known here for a long time, the funeral is on Thursday so will not go until Friday now.:(
I have been refused at Blood Donors twice now for low iron, discussed it with the Dr when I saw him, as I have been a donor for years with no problems, and he said my kidney reading had change a lot since last year, and it could be linked, so suggested I go and get a check up at the hospital, that was last Monday, appoint has come through for Tuesday.
Congrats to RosyRed's son at getting at job, so disheartening for them. Positive vibes please for DS's GF who had an interview on Tuesday for a Fashion Designers job.
Taplady - hope you enjoy your car, maybe it will distract you from your winning form at Scrabble. :rotfl:
Better go and get some tea on. DGMember #8 of the SKI-ers Club
Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?0 -
:hello: Hi all! and before I forget, welcome to is76
RosyRed :j:j That's great news, he must be so thrilled.
SunnyGirl -Thanks for sending Diva our love. i hope they have been able to do the other op today.
Penny_Pincher - Hope you're doing ok, thinking of you.
Butterfly Brain Glad you're feeling better today! The tree pollen gives me hay fever and I thought that was bad enough!
bargainbird Will be thinking of you tomorrow x
Meanmarie Did you get a new monitor?
taplady Best "get well" wishes to DH.
NPM Glad you have had a nice day after all x
csarina people like that have obviously never heard of fair shares! Do you mean that folk were saying they were the owners of Dobie's? Blooming cheek!
candygirl (((HUGS))) hon, I too think a week is rather long for a one-year-old as she'll be worried about where her Mum is, and it's so much hard work for you. Though I do remember my daughter's friend and her husband leaving their 3yo and 6mo with her parents for a week and I think it went ok. I couldn't have done it myself though!
(((HUGS))) to everyone in need of some.
ETA to wish good luck to Donny-gal's DS's GF!
We took my sewing machine to be serviced this morning. It's going to cost £95 :eek::eek: and that's only if there's nothing that actually needs replacing! It's an electronic machine, and apparently that counts as "computerized". I think it just needs re-lubricating, as it's 10 years old but I haven't used it very much. We had to pay £40 deposit. And they have had so many machines taken in for repairs/servicing lately that their shelves are chock-a-block and they apologised that it will be two weeks before they even look at it! I remarked that I was hoping to make some curtains, and the man said "You and everyone else, I think!" He said they have never been so busy with repairs. It just shows how sewing and "make-do-and-mend" have taken off again.
The dentist has told me to keep to soft/non-chewy foods for 6 - 8 weeksI'm running out of ideas! I can only think of things like cottage/shepherd's pie, spag bol, lasagne, fish cakes and corned beef hash! And DH and I are both meant to have a Low GI diet, and an awful lot of Low GI foods need a lot of chewing. Just have to muddle along, i guess!
Have a good evening everyone xx0 -

Diva Update
Not too good I'm afraid as no operation today. Her consultant wants to do it himself so it'll be done tomorrow. At least a proper job will be done with, hopefully, no complications this time. She is still on nil by mouth and is dehydrated and feeling grot. Her OH had just arrived as I texted so hopefully he'll have cheered her up.
Bargain BirdHope that everything goes ok for you tomorrow. Try to enjoy the rest if you're not in too much discomfort
What's your DH like
xx
Donny Gal My Dad recently had an appiontment for a liver scan delivered to the door in a taxi  the day after he saw the GP. It put the fear of God into him with it being so quick but it's quite normal nowadays to get major organs looked at very quickly :T Good luck with it & hopefully it'll be something thats easily sorted for you xx
NPM Any news from the cats home?
We've just finished our pasta bake it was very tasty and eaten eagerly by allNot bad for an onion, a pepper, a couple of courgettes, some mushrooms and some bacon all mixed with a couple of tins of tomatoes and topped with grated cheese :money:
