Actually almost all brands only give a 12 month guarantee. However some give a 5 year warranty, which is actually yet another sales gimmick. The warranties are usually on a sliding scale, which means that if you have had a mattress for 4 years, and it needs replacement, then you will have to pay 80% of the cost of replacement, at the current market value (without any discounts), and you will have to pay delivery. So this means that you could end up paying more than you paid for the original, and it also keeps you using the same manufacturer.

All products have to have a design life, and if they need replacement or repair within that design life, then the manufacturer must pay towards the cost of replacement or repair. So this can end up giving you the same cover as those products where they have used the 5 year warranty as a sales gimmick.

So, how many LR mattresses do you get returned within 12 months?

You know very well that I'm not allowed to answer that. In fact I wish I was allowed to answer it, as it might shut you up.

Are you just on here to try and get another thread closed by trying to start an argument?

What are you talking about? I've never had any thread closed.

It's a perfectly reasonable question for you to answer. There are two people on this thread who've reported a problem with this mattress - all I'm asking is, is this representative? Is there a common fault with these mattresses or not? I don't see why you can't answer that?

On the John Lewis website some mattresses offer a '10 year guarantee'. It says 5 years at 100% and then a sliding scale for the other 5 up to 10 years. Like this one:

John Lewis Pocket Ortho 1 Mattress, Double, £395
    http://www.johnlewis.com/230436608/Product.aspx

Don't know the exact terms and conditions of the 'guarantee' or whether the cost of mattress represents good value for money?

Lets just say that there are many brands that I refuse to sell due to reliability problems. Most of these are big brand names.

John Lewis are expensive, and therefore their prices don't represent good value for money.

Also they don't give a satisfaction guarantee ("For hygiene reasons we cannot accept the return of a mattress after packaging has been opened, unless it is faulty.")

    Hi

We have just replaced our mattress and have to say its the best mattress we have ever bought and we have had 4 or 5 over the years, including an expensive memory foam.

We have just purchased a dormeo 2 + 12 mattress, we purchased ours from Ideal World when it was their pick of the day, but you can buy it direct from here

    http://www.dormeo.co.uk/

We think that its great value and my husband and myself wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.

I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but £400 for a reflex foam and memory foam mattress, with only 2cm of memory foam (which isn't worth having), is very very expensive.

As stated on my previous posting, we did not buy our mattress direct, we got it from Ideal World and if I remember correctley the price was around £250 for a double not your price of £400.

    Hi Caris

Does the bed get 'hot' at all? We quite like trying out the memory foam beds in shop for 10 mins, but were wondering if some start to feel hot after a while. Would be interested in your actual experience with this dormeo.
