If i run my hand firmly over the mattress, in most places it is well padded, but in a places the padding seems very thin and I can feel metal.

Like I said, get it replaced, as it is probably faulty. If you have had it 9 months then it will still be under guarantee.

After reading loads of the old massive mattress thread I went for a La Romantica Charlotte Double Mattress (pocket Sprung) - which is around your budget.

It started off really comfortable, however after having it for 9 months I am not sure I would buy this again. I am sure I am starting to feel the springs a little.

I thought it was just me but I have found after only a few months that my La Romantica Charlotte Mattress is not firm anymore and is infact quite soft and 'lumpy'. I also get a back ache now where as I didn't at the start. Also the little felt bits that pull into the mattress, one of those came off on mine so now there is a little hole there. I don't like to make a nuisense of myself though :o
    Virgin CC=£2652, Next= [STRIKE]£102.88,[/STRIKE] Very=£475.60, Natwest=£800, Sainsburys CC=£1777.02, Lloyds CC=£498.29, Lloyds Loan= £13,946.18, Car=£4000Total = [STRIKE]£26,147.23[/STRIKE] £23,849.09:eek:

If a tuft has come out then that could be causing the problem, as they are part of the structure of a hand tufted mattress. So contact the seller and get it replaced under the guarantee.

My sister had the exact same problem, good luck with returning it as she was told it was not a a manufacturers fault but because they did not turn their mattress too often!!

Why are you telling blatant lies????????

Earlier you said that the problem was that she could feel springs in a mattress that it would be impossible to. Now you are claiming a different problem.

If your sister had a faulty mattress then there would have been no question about them replacing it, just the same as Apollo. In fact much of our van loads used to be taken up by replacements for faulty beds and mattresses from Apollo.

    Edit:
This is from another post that shaz2809 posted in:

I own Total Furnishing but my original post recommended monsterbeds.co.uk for the latex mattress the lady was enquiring about. I don't sell that particular product and mentioned calypso as it seemed she wanted a dual sided mattress

    Is that against the rules?

I'd just like to say that I am more than happy with the seller I got my mattress from and would recommend them to anyone (don't know if I can post names on here but if I can i'd be happy to). I emailed them to explain the problem and within 24 hours had a reply back to say a replacement would be sorted.

Charlie, my seller was different to yours and doesn't seem as helpful. I emailed them a week ago and no reply yet. I've just chased them again, so hopefully I will get a response.

    Have you tried phoning them?

I wonder if this is why La Romantica only offer a 12 month guarantee? A lot of brands we are advised to stay away from offer 5 years.

Either way, let us know how you get on if you decide to try for a replacement.

Send it back, it sounds to be faulty.

How many returns do you get? Is this a common problem with LR beds?

Actually almost all brands only give a 12 month guarantee. However some give a 5 year warranty, which is actually yet another sales gimmick. The warranties are usually on a sliding scale, which means that if you have had a mattress for 4 years, and it needs replacement, then you will have to pay 80% of the cost of replacement, at the current market value (without any discounts), and you will have to pay delivery. So this means that you could end up paying more than you paid for the original, and it also keeps you using the same manufacturer.

All products have to have a design life, and if they need replacement or repair within that design life, then the manufacturer must pay towards the cost of replacement or repair. So this can end up giving you the same cover as those products where they have used the 5 year warranty as a sales gimmick.
