as far as the milk thing goes i find that although the milkround should be saved, the milk is very expensive these days. nearly double the price!spanky xx

True sometimes the value isn't much cheaper, but ti works the other way round too - some Finest products aren't much more expensive than the normal ones. I always get the Finest salad dressing for example as it's only about 10p more and tastes sooo much better than the normal range. I would love to be able to go to a local butcher or greengrocer but they both closed down about 2 years ago. There's a couple of excellent markets in the middle of town but they tend to finish at around 3.30pm and I don't finish work til 4.30, so I'm stuck with the local Somerfield or Coop.0

i know i am a bit late on this one, but i completely agree, when i was a kid, anyone with budget brand stuff was a laughing stock.
we had a tesco, asda, kwik save, netto and aldi in our town, and if anyone took in ANYTHING that was tesco value, asda farmstores (as it was then), kwik save no frills (with it's hideous white packaging and black writing) or anything from aldi or netto, you were TOTAL laughing stock, any own brand stuff was touch and go though. i got laughed at for taking in kwik save brand coke (what you got for my dad shopping), and now we have adults continuing the trend.
Wonder where the kids get it from?
i'm childfree, i can buy what i want and if anyone looks at me funny, i just give them same looks back.
you should always try the one down from the one you buy, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
i think martin would say something like thatthings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

We used to get milk from a local round, but it never arrived until after we'd left for work so on warm days we'd have sour milk by the time we got back for lunch and/or in the evening.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

As for the fact that value bread tastes and looks unappetising, well...
You pays your money, you makes your choice
Thanks for the laugh Student , sorry lol0 -
Check Pound For Pound values as well. You get more weight for less money with some Tesco brand items than Value brand and the quality seems better.0

Our milk is a couple more pence for 4pints then Tesco's, but it's the convenience of having it delivered as I don't drive and it's one less thing to carry home.
I am a fan of the value range, I tend to compare top brand ingredients against the value range and if it's near enough the same I will try it.
I have to confess to being a snob when it comes to beans and ketchup - I just HAVE to have heinz, but anything else we try out. If my boys eat it - it's passed the test!Payment a day challenge: £236.69

How do people find threads that are nearly 5 years old? Not complaining by the way, just I can hardly find threads that I was looking at yesterday
My hubby used to hate the value beans as well, but I stick some tandoori or curry powder in with them and make spicy beans for him. I often regret it"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder and it may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye."...Miss piggy0 -
With sites like this and the knowledge it imparts beiing so well received the "snobbery" will disappear. Those people who continue to laden their trolleys with Finest products will realise they look like money wasting idiots and that they are the subject of the pity of us wised up consumers.
If they are that stuck up what are they doing in Tesco in the first place?
How judgemental are you:mad:
People can choose to spend their hard earned cash on whatever food floats their boat.
I choose not to buy the value stuff, but I don't examine what others have in their trolleys/baskets & make negative assumptions about them due to their shopping:rolleyes:     :rolleyes:0
