Tesco's "Value" goods

I always buy Sainsbury's own brand baked beans because I much prefer the talte to say heinz, usually the taste difference is only in the sauce anyway. I prefer their own brand cheap mild cheddar chesse to say Adsa's own cheese whci I had some time ago and was awful - bland & tasteless. Just tried Asda Smart Price hand wash at about 58p - Never again it's smells like toilet cleaner and no lather whatsoever. Their next up range is much better at about 78p for 500ml - Anything less than a quid for 4-500ml is good value for hand cleaners.
I know Asda say you can get a refund if you don't "love" the smart price products but I can't be bothered - I'll just never buy them agaiin. A bad expereince with one Economy range puts you off trying others though.0 -
Debt_Free_Chick wrote:VickyA ... I could not agree more. Supermarkets make my blood boil, especially when you look at what they've done to our farming industry. Woe betide any farmer who gets into a contract with a Supermarket. Please .. buy your meat from the butcher! If you don't, we'll soon be unable to buy British Meat, which is the safest and best quality in the World.
Bloomin Supermarkets ... grump!
Indeed, my boyfriend works in the company that I used to and he's currently facing potential redundancy because of the lack of margin the company are making. (however, we make full use of the staff shop, buying celery, lettuce, carrots etc at bargain prices)
And we buy all our meat from the local butcher. He's so friendly, and he always has exactly what you want at a decent price and excellent quality. We also use the local farmers' market. Boyfriend went for the first time to FM at the weekend and couldn't believe the choice, quality and prices.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 declared0 -

When I was in school (which had a Kwik Save just down the road), anyone who had No Frills crisps for lunch was sadly the laughing stock, but hey, thats kids whos parents paid for their food anyway! (I did have some at home once, tasted quite okay to me!)
Incidentally, did Somerfield kill off the Kwik Save No Frills range, or has it just changed names now?
Cheers

Tesco Value beans are the worst I have ever tasted. They were over flavoured and over coloured. Lidl beans at 15p a can are almost as good as Heinz.0 -
Tesco Value beans are great, tried other stores like lidl and aldi and felt like I was eating bullets.
It could be down to my terrible cooking

We recently made a decision (after getting my fantastic turkey from the local butchers at christmas and having to queue for 90 mins to pick it up on xmas eve, due to him not being able to afford to pay more members of staff just to be busy on two days of the year!) to buy meat/fish/fruit and veg from local small shops. I know this is all about money saving, and this method costs more. But the quality is exceptionally better than tesco/morrisons where we normally shop. If you also get chemicals, houshold goods from the likes of wilko, you can save money and get good stuff, and know you are supporting the british farming industry whose produce is better anyway!!Talon "Ace" Karrde
