I decided not to go for the job. I thought - if I'm not even motivated enough to fill in the form, what is the point? My thoughts were:

Do I have the experience to do the job: yes
do I want to work in this area again (PR): No
Do I want the stress of a senior manager post (hated it 10 years ago): no
Do I want to be managing 10 staff on a day to day basis: No
Do I think I would be excited by the issues :No

    Would I like the salary.............flippin heck yes..........£42-£45k......

But........if the thought of clearing 2.5k after tax etc STILL doesn't motivate me to complete the form........then it just isn't for me.

Blimey BB that is some salary....but I agree, if your heart isn't in it then you won't enjoy your job and no amount of money can buy happiness. Considering we spend most of our life at work I think it's essential that I enjoy my job. Ok, so I'll never be considered a high-flyer but I love going into work every day and love the people I work with....with socialise a lot and support each other in work too.

SRM....thanks. That's appreciated. If no luck, I'll ask on here.
YOUR = belonging to you (your coat); YOU'RE = you are (I hope you're ok)

really....it's not hard to understand :T

Personally I would keep at it - I run through knee pains when I start up after a break from running. Keep a mental tab on it and if it gets worse it might be worth going into a running shop and get your gait tested to see if you over/under pronate as this could be putting strain on it. New trainers/insoles can help compensate and reduce/remove the problem.

It is probably ligament rather than muscle. Ice it after a run to reduce any swelling (even if you can't see any) and if it persists ask a doctor;)

(although I'm not medically trained - this is just based on my personal experience)

    Wow, quiet here tonight!

I left early (well, I got in early too, had driven miles and miles, and took no lunchbreak). I need to remember to finish some work off tonight tho :( Thanks to leaving early got home at an OK time, did some housework now off to Asda to get food for dinner (OH has a friend round and I don't have much in) then need to work, shower and pack for overnight stay tomorrow.

    Quiet evening really :D

Thanks Luc-that helps..my daughter ran behind me and was laughing at my gait, apparently I run like duck!! Are there any chains of running shops that do this check? I know there aren't any local to me but would be willing to travel...I certainly do have problems in the leg/ankle/foot dept though as I had an MRI last year and have 1 leg shorter than the other, and foot not "on leg straight"....

well, that's the thing. If I hadn't have been made redundant the first time in 1999 and stayed at the level I was at I would have been in the 40k+ bracket easily by now. However, I was never comfortable in the job, I felt out of my depth and I had kind of 'fallen' into the last post following a take over etc. I went to work in Ireland for the last 12 months - god know how I got the job - and was really not sure about what I should have been doing and I had no back up - only in London and nobody really knew what they were doing either!

I think i'm most comfortable in a project manager/lower-middle manager post (similar to the one I had when Cruella came along) with a 25-30k salary.

Just need to find something that is right for me really because it's getting time to move on I think (even though my afternoon boss said some really nice stuff to me today about how he was grateful and respected my attitude to getting on with the job even though there was no permanency to it and I felt guilty about thinking I'd booger off!)
