Anybody else tuned in and waiting to hear what the last pre-Brexit budget holds?

ETA: So nothing exciting. Good news for many on the personal allowance. Lets wait and see how much of that actually gets through the Scottish budget in December...

Not much happening around these parts. My energy switch went through but interestingly, although it should cost me less per annum, they haven't amended my monthly payments... (I did the Energy Club switch to British Gas, who I was already with on their standard tariff) ... should mean a nice credit at some point in the future...

I get paid 16th November (actually so does Hubbles this month as the 18th is a Sunday so that's nice). Per YNAB I should only be about £100 into OD this month so December should see me clear of that. Then I can ask the bank to remove the facility completely and my days of an OD will be over :D .

Now we've ticked over into November I'm starting to think about what I want to achieve in 2019. This year I have mostly been winging it and not much has been achieved, although there have been a couple of minor wins. I shall at some point update my diary with what I come up with...

A small win this morning. I got the child minder invoice this morning and there was no deduction for my CCVs. On investigation the recurring payment I had set up on the Care-4 site had lapsed (you can only do a year at a time) so I had 2 months sitting in my account :). Instead of the £450 budgeted, we only had to pay £308 this month :j

Not sure whether to clear £150 more off CC, put it in the pot for Hogmanay party (we're splashing out on a party in a hotel) or let it linger in the childcare pot until the end of the month. Nice problem to have...

  • Morning Lucifa,

Great news on the energy change, hope that they sort the monthly payments out quickly.

Yay to the reduction in childminder charges, always a bonus :j

I'm trying to write in the first person without being gender specific so would be interested in a male perspective if I get there...

Always interested to meet fellow Wrimoers!! (*scoots off to stalk aspiringbutanxious)

Quiet weekend with the family. Hubbles treated us to breakfast on Saturday morning and we got some heathers for in front of the house. I had a very successful driving lesson and then spent a good 3 hours staring at a screen trying to make the words come for my story to no avail. Sunday morning I helped out at the local rugby club (really not my jam!) then did the chores before settling once more to try and write. Nothing. So instead of the planned catch up I am now further behind than ever...

This morning I am walking to work and suddenly I have a double epiphany and NEED to write. I have just cranked out 1,000 words in about 40 minutes. Yes, it will need (heavily) edited BUT I have a story that is going somewhere. I now don't want to bother with the day job as I have words to get on paper.... :rotfl: 2,688 down - 47,312 to go

Uncanny I might have something for you to read in December if I can keep this up. Hoepfully I will get a seat on the train tonight and I can get a couple hundred more done.

Oh, yeah, MSE. Very low spends over the weekend. Need to pick up perishables but still a tonne of meat in the freezer so will be pretty cheap.

Bit of a slow news week chez Luc. Between working and writing really not much happening. Actually quite pleased to have 5k words, although the target for the end of today 13,333 so a bit of catching up to do. I'm hoping to get another 500 to 1,000 done tonight once the kids are in bed and about 10k done tomorrow as it is my day off. I have things to get on with in the morning but should have the afternoon to myself until about 5 :) I really want to be on track, if not ahead, by bedtime on Sunday. I keep slowing myself down by having an idea that I then need to go and research (so far corvids, Norse symbolism and the properties of pure metals)

On a money front, spends have been low. Eating out of store cupboards. Only spent maybe 20quid topping up on bread and veg. N has gone back to school dinners which is saving us a fortune at the moment, not to mention one less thing to prepare ahead.

YNAB continues to keep me on track with budget - it has been an absolute revelation how easy it can be to manage money. I just feel so much more informed!

Have a great weekend if I'm not back on tomorrow.
